Even Kids Need an Adventure, 3 [1]

Nate had barely enough time to process the fact his back was in pain when a hand grabbed the front of his shirt and lifted him off the ground. "This one is one of the bloodsucker's brats. And wherever this one is, the other is sure to be close. Find her!"

Coughing, Nate shook his head to clear it and smiled. "Goody for you. Caught a kid. Feel proud of yourself?"

"Extremely," the man said. "Especially since I know through you and the others in the cage, I can finally capture she who has eluded me all these years."

"Well guess what, old man," Nate said. "Dragon's not just going to bow to you because you have us. She's going to kill you. Plain and simple."

"It is not your mother's master I am after," the man said, "The one I am after is--"

At the far end of the warehouse, an explosion sent a mushroom cloud towards the ceiling. A split second later, they were buffetted by wind so strong that everyone in its way was knocked down. Walking towards them was Ette, her hair was loose and her eyes were glowing. [2] Anything that was in her way was blown into smithereens by a blast from her wand.

"I'd love to stay and play," Nate said, scrambling to his feet and keeping an eye on the approaching Ette. The man and all of his men ran away. "Buuut, she didn't do quite what I thought she would."

"What the hell is going on with your sister?" Larkin asked as Nate cast a spell to break the chains holding her and the younger dragons.

"When Ette and I were younger, I did something stupid that, in short, makes her EXTREMELY dangerous when her hair's not braided up," Nate replied. "Get the others out of here. I'll see to Ette."

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Larkin asked.

"Yeah, I've done this before," Nate chuckled. Just not without mom or dad around...

When the dragons took off, Nate approached Ette. "Nanette? Danger's over now. You can put him away now. They've all gone away. Just me now."

Ette continued to advance, her hair swirling about her and, if anything, her eyes glowing brighter.

"Don't make me do this," Nate said, raising his wand. "I can't apparate without splinching myself. I need you to put him away, Nanette. [Please don't make me have to kill you to put him back to sleep. Fight him!]"

Ette stopped. "Nuuuuh. Nnnnaaate?"

"That's it!" Nate said. "Fight! Put him back under your control!"

Closing her eyes, Ette visibly struggled with what was controlling her. After a few moments, she clearly won because she began to braid her hair. Blinking (her eyes normal again), Ette looked around, "What...?"

"Bad guys are gone, Larkin and the others are on their way back to Green Shade, and I'm waiting for you to recover your wits," Nate said. "C'mon. Time to do what I hate the most and apparate."

As soon as Taran's ship entered Gaia's atmosphere, the embers in the medical bay flared. A second or two later, Nogard was sitting on the table where the the embers were. "Nyahaha, I'm baaaaaaaaack! So, meatbags, where's the busty girl I was with?"

In Green Shade, Dragon and Xangord took on their normal forms.

"I'm going to go find my daughters and beat them," Dragon said, stalking off in the direction she saw Shalimar and Wynn take off.

Exhaling, Flan said, < Damnit... >

"What?" Xangord asked, looking at Flan.

< It's nothing, > Flan replied. To herself, she thought, It's bad enough that I was followed here by him, but with her here....I really hate complications...
