When the group had made it out of the castle, Xink said, "Stop."
"We can't stop Xinky," Dai said. "Wallaby said to--"
"I know what Waldo said," Xink said, looking over his shoulder. "But we can't leave him. a*****e he is...he's--"
Don't turn your back on her you fool! a voice growled in Xink's head.
Looking back at Dai, Xink barely saw her leaping at him. Summoning his hook swords, Xink brought them up in time to deflect Dai's claws from digging into his face. Still caught off his guard, Xink was shoved off the back of the horse by Dai's heavier weight.
Roll to the right to your feet, the voice growled again in Xink's head.
Following the voice's instructions, Xink raised his hook swords to fend off the downward slash of Dai's claws. From another instruction from the voice in his head, Xink dipped low and swung his foot out, catching Dai's ankles and knocking them out from beneath her. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw that the young Xangord and young Nogard had corralled the horse carrying the young Dragon back behind him.
"You're not Dai," Xink said, circling with Dai. To the voice in his head, he thought, Who're you?
The Dawning Mist, the voice replied as Dai asked, "What makes you say that?"
That's an Organization name, so what's your real name? Xink asked the voice in his head while saying to Dai, "Because she wouldn't attack me or leave a comrade behind."
...Chixalam. "Damn. Well here I was hoping I wasn't going to have to kill you." If you don't want to die, you had best allow me to take over, boy. You don't stand a chance against it.
As the psuedo-Dai rushed at Xink, he crossed his arms over his chest and lowered his head. Closing his eyes, Xink straightened his arms out to the side. As he did so, the hook swords became silver lighting-bolt shaped keyblades, his gray hair became unbound and flowed down his back, a black stripe flowed across his eyes, his shirt disappeared to reveal a heart tattoo on his torso, his pants took on a checkered marking up to the knee, and his scrawny frame became more muscular and shot up to just over six feet tall.
Opening his eyes, Chixalam quickly brought up his keyblades and stabbed psuedo-Dai through the throat and chest with them. Using her momentum, he threw her aside and off the blades. With a dying hiss, the psuedo-Dai faded into a Shadow Heartless before disappearing altogether.
Looking at the spot where the psuedo-Dai had died, Chixalam raised a keyblade and shot a beam of light out of the end that hit a wall behind the children and the horse. The world around them wavered for a moment before crumbling to reveal that they were still in Vexen's lab with a torn and bloodied Waldo sprawled on the ground.
"What the hell are we doing back here?!" young Nogard exclaimed.
"We never left," young Xangord replied. "It seems it was just a hologram."
"It's one thing to make a fool of these lab rats," Chixalam said, slowly raising his head to look at Vexen. "But to make a fool of me, even if it was my weaker half, was your mistake."
