"I'll just lay here with no medical attention, shall I?" Dragon said, letting her hand drop to the ground. Watching Rose unleash her angel side, Dragon thought, She looks just like her mother.
When Nissa arrived, she lifted Dragon into a slouched standing position--holding on to Dragon to keep her from falling down. "You look extra crispy. I've done a bio scan and you should really be resting right now."
"And I FEEL extra crispy," Dragon said. "But I'm not going to rest until this is over with." To the council, she said, "Pardon me for interrupting, Sai Council, but if you wish for a linear tale of events then allow Wolf Deschain to explain for Daichym would only muddy the waters with leaping from one event to another with no clear path."
"Thanks," Dai said dryly. Looking at the council, she said, "She does have a point though."
Planting a heel in the ground, Wolf bowed with his right hand over his heart and his left extended out with the palm up. "Long days and pleasant nights, Sai Council and Sai Observers."
Oh hell, Dragon thought as Wolf straightened. Hopefully that silver tongue of his does more good than harm.
"Daichym, myself, and two others from Dragon's party happen to be scholars and joined Dragon so we could see Green Shade in all of it's glory with our own eyes rather than by word of mouth. Early this morn', we four scholars and a tiger--who is a often guide for one of our members--set out on a our own to explore more than a mere glimpse of such a beautiful city. We had not been long in our viewing when several kitsunes, of colorful garb and hair, attacked without provocation nor warning.
"I will have to surmise we were quickly captured as I was knocked out quite early from a cowardly attack from behind. Upon awakening, I found myself and my companions strapped to tables in what appeared to be an alchemists lab. Questions were bantered back and forth between our quite colorful captors, my companions, and myself--questions such as 'Is everyone okay?' 'Who are you?' 'Where are we?', that kind of thing. One of the captors happened to mention we were in the lab of the Silver River Den."
Letting that sink in for a moment, Wolf went on.
"I should also mention that the companion who needs the tiger as a guide is a little, blind, mute old woman. She had apparently been seriously injured for she was still out cold when I woke up. I will venture to guess that she will not be in the best of moods when she does wake up. Flannery's temper is strenuous at best."
Dragon rubbed her forehead. Idiot! Well...at least the kitsunes aren't familiar with our true mana signatures.
"After Daichym and I were fully awake, the colorful kitsunes slapped on the lovely red collars you see, and gave us instructions. Instructions that if not followed, we would receive a nasty shock at the magnatude you've just seen--not to mention the harming of our comrades. Who, last I saw before Daichym and I were marched out, were still in the lab."
And now for the last nail in the coffin hopefully, Dragon thought with a glance at Estefan. "Nissa, run an analysis on the collars. Crosscheck anyone who has touched it with anyone here or anything that may be neither kitsune nor human."
"Scanning," Nissa said. A panel in her shoulder slid back and a light appeared. Above her head, holographic images flashed by. After two minutes had passed, eight images appeared above Nissa.
Three were of Dragon, Wolf, and Dai. Four were of Estefan, his head technician, and two lackies. The eighth picture was blacked out with the words UNKNOWN stamped on it.
"Show details on the unknown bio-signature," Dragon said.
"Retrieving," Nissa said. After thirty seconds, she said, "Demon. Class Four--of snake lineage."
Dragon looked at Estefan with a slightly arched eyebrow and the tiniest grin possible.
