"Does the house seem less crowded to you?" Dragon asked Flan. It was some months later and Flan had, mostly, recovered from her injuries.
< A wee bit, > Flan said. < Broden, Nogard, Varda, Varden, Wynn, Xink, Larkin, Ette, and Nate all seem to be missing. >
"Where's n**, Xangord, and grandmother?" Dragon asked.
< n** and Xangord have been out hunting for the past few days, Alachia has been exploring Gaia's oceans for the last week, > Flan replied. < So they are unaware of the current situation. >
"And going to hold me liable for loosing their kids," Dragon said, running a hand over her face. "Which is why I'm glad mine are grown up. They can handle themselves."
"Mother have you seen Wynn or Larkin?" Shalimar asked, approaching Dragon and Flan.
"I'm going to assume they're hunting?" Dragon said. "Wynn could also be visiting her father and Larkin tagged along--those two seem to get along rather well."
"They usually tell me if they're going to do something like that," Shalimar said. "But I haven't seen them for two days."
"Nerissa," Dragon said, "Can you locate Varda, Varden, Wynn, Xink, Larkin, Ette, and Nate?"
After a moment, Nerissa's hologram form appeared in front of Dragon. "Negative. I searched all of Gaia and cannot find them."
"Ooookay," Dragon said. "You're still here and I'm going to assume that they haven't taken Rose's ship."
< What about Broden and Nogard? > Flan asked.
"I can find no trace of either of them," Nerissa replied--she had long since designed her sensors to pick up Flan's telepathy signature to understand what the old woman was saying.
< I believe we have a situation on our hands, > Flan said, turning to Dragon. < I can easily see Varda, Varden, Xink, Ette, and Nate getting themselves into danger that they wouldn't be able to get out of. For Wynn and Larkin, there are a few dangers I could name in which they wouldn't be able to deal with and need rescuing. However...I cannot see Nogard or Broden getting into trouble unless said trouble was-- >
Flan never got the chance to finish her sentence because at that moment, Shalimar let loose a blood curling scream. Grabbing Dragon's arm with so much force she broke it in three places, Shalimar's legs buckled beneath her.
Ignoring the pain in her broken arm, Dragon placed a hand on Shalimar's shoulder and yelled her name. To Dragon's horror, Shalimar started to shrink--much like if Shal was being pulled through a tiny hole by her belly button--until she vanished.
