Like the dragon stages I have previously written about, I have now uncovered new information. At some point, all the dragons in the world at one point were religious. They had gods and goddesses as numerous as the ancient religions of old Earth [+1], but here are their top ten--which coincidentally match the top ten dragon breeds. As humans have done, the dragons slowly fell away from worshiping these deities--but they did not fall to worshiping any other deities for that matter, they simply became agnostics. This is strange though due to they will occasionally make references to these old gods and goddesses--mostly Draco.

Some new research has come up in following this one clan of blue dragons that have settled on Gaia. I believe that their leader, the only pure blooded dragon in the clan, has some kind of tie with these gods and goddesses.

Draco: [image] Draco is the mightiest warrior of dragon-kind, thereby the king of draconic gods and the creator of the universe and all those withinin it. Draco shows up when someone's about to die. Usually he'll just go ahead and take out the best friends too, just so the one dying won't be lonely in the afterlife. Draco doesn't mess around, and he doesn't play evil games like Thermail or bother with magic, like Lofwyr. Draco doesn't run and hide like Hestaby. He's there to do a job, and he does it well. Draco likes to stomp his enemies, incite human rebellions, start the occasional war, and spend lazy hours preening his battle aura. Draco's favorable attributes are strength, physical abilities, thriftiness, warmth, and longevity in battle. Just in case some puny human, or Thermail, think they can get the drop on him, Draco's got a concealed breath weapon--gigantic masses of Fire.

Aden: [image] Aden is the draconic goddess of magic. Aden has been all but forgotten in popular literature, but that suits her just fine. She's slightly shy and spend most of her time in impassable mountain valleys. When feeling brave or adventurous, Aden uses her shape-shifting ability to blend in with society. Given a choice, however, Aden would still much prefer to be left to her own devices. She likes to spend time devising new and interesting spells and potions, and counting and hoarding your gigantic treasure. Aden's favorable attributes are longevity, security, magic, and reverence for life. To top it off, your breath weapon is a curious mix of Fire and Air--so it would be best to watch what one says around Aden because of her short temper.

Thermail: [image] Thermail is the draconic god of vileness, craftiness, danger, and fire. Thermail has a nasty tendency towards luring his prey in with quiet words and soft emotions, then wrapping his scaly tail around his prey and biting off its head. Thermail likes to invent creative traps, spend long hours relaxing in the mouths of volcanoes, fly over the vast forests of the planet looking for fodder, and pick fights. His favorable attributes are Noon, Summer, the sword, helpful fire, blood, courage, passion, will power, and leadership. If the draconic gods went to war, they'd rally behind Thermail in a snap--if Draco wasn't around. Thermail's breath weapon is good old fashioned Fire.

Celedyre: [image] Because Celedyre spends the vast majority of her time soaring high above the ground, often for no particular reason, she is the draconic goddess of the sky. Celedyre spends most of her time on the Plains or steppe highlands when not mingled with the air currents. Celedyre likes to spend time in silent, aerial meditation and would only really attack someone if provoked. Her favorable attributes are the sunrise, Spring, incense, clouds, and any kind of helpful air mass or current. When it's needed, Celedyre's breath weapon is pure bolts of Lightning.

Lofwyr: [image] Lofwyr is the draconic god of honorable, chivalry, and commitment. Lofwyr's appearance is fearsome and all-mighty but he'd never stoop so low as to bring any harm to anyone lower than him. Lofwyr's piety, beauty, wisdom, and inner strength are absolutely without parallel. He likes to fly around scaring things, advise humans in their affairs, and absolutely LOVES to shapeshift. Lofwyr's favorable attributes are honor, chivalry, truth, kindness, gold, mining, protection, wisdom, bravery, and trustworthiness. If anyone threatens Lofwyr's worshippers or tries to kill him, he strikes back with his breath weapon--Fire.

Vestrivan: [image] Vestrivan is the draconic goddess of Nature and the Earth. Vestrivan spends almost all of her time below the canopy or just above the treetops in tropical rain forests. She speaks the language of every animal and plant in her domain and knows most of them by first name. If people mess with Vestrivan's forests, she's more than happy to destroy them. Vestrivan also likes to like to impose her steadfast will on others, commune with Nature, and lobby governments for alternative fuels and conservation. Her favorable attributes are Midnight, Winter, gemstones, mountains, caves, soil, respect, endurance, responsibility, prosperity, and purpose in life. Folks shouldn't get the idea she's a pushover though, because Vestrivan's breath weapon is a nasty Fire/Acid combination.

Rhonabwy: [image] Rhonabwy is the draconic god of supple attitudes, creativity, and water. His breath weapon is Steam. Rhonabwy's tendency is to maim, but not destroy--like his native oceans and rivers will deform the rock over time, eventually wearing it away to nothing. Humans shouldn't make the idiot mistake of thinking he's weak, however, because Rhonabwy has a penchant for materializing out of any body of water, no matter how small. Rhonabwy also enjoys communicating with aquatic life-forms, hunting in totally inhospitable terrain (i.e. 3000 feet below the waves), and using his fluid nature to his advantage. Rhonabwy's enemies probably won't even see him approach in the first place. His favorable attributes are the sunset, Autumn, water, compassion, peace, forgiveness, love, intuition, and calmness. Although, it's not smart to test this calmness part.

Sirrurg: [image] Sirrurg is the dragonic goddess of the hunt. Sirrurg is often considered an outcast or a shadow dwelling on the periphery of the draconic gods, but she can always be counted upon to speak the truth and help her allies. Sirrurg possess considerable intelligence and self-confidence, and given the opportunity could make a great leader. Magic isn't really Sirrurg's bag, but she's awfully good at slipping in and out of a situation or conflict undetected. Which, by the way, may be due to being much smaller than any of the other draconic gods than anything else. Her favorable attributes are dependability, durability, problem-solving, mist, fog, silver, and pewter. Sirrurg is a superb weapons user and has an especially good command of her icy breath weapon. Her one draw back is that her friends and followers may find Sirrurg's ethics hard to accept from time to time.

Masaru: [image] Masaru is the draconic god of Evil, terror, and death. Masaru likes to chomp things, cause trouble, make off with people's significant others, and so on and so forth. His favorable attributes are night, the Moon, the stars, dreams, psychic guidance, balancing Karma, seeking truth, and helpful dark magic. Deep down, Masaru likes to smite at random and has a nasty breath weapon combination of Fire and Acid.

Hestaby: [image] Hestaby is the draconic goddess of balance, power and reclusive intelligence, and life. Hestaby likes to think things out, plot against enemies, and look down upon the world from the highest mountain peaks. Her favorable attributes are the Day, the Sun, reaching for spirituality, truth, a positive attitude, and helpful magic. Humans only need fear her when they stray into Hestaby's domain without proper payment for passage. If someone ever threatens her, Hestaby would likely hit and run, or just plain run. If they really wanted a fight Hestaby is an impressive opponent, considering she packs a breath weapon combination of Fire and Lightning.
