After I had activated my AI body, dressed, and went with
Dragon and the others to help young Rose; I began to monitor the girl who had called herself Holly--something about the way she was acting bothered me. When we had returned home with Rose, I pulled Holly aside.
"You guys coming?" Dragon asked, looking back at us.
"We'll be along in a second," I replied before Holly could say anything. Once Dragon, Nogard, and Rose went on into the house, I turned to the girl and said, "You need sleep."
"No I don't!" Holly replied quickly, a flash of fear on her face. "I can go for a long time without sleep."
"You know I am an avatar of a super computer with the brain the size of four galaxies," I said sternly, "and I can monitor your body. You're suffering from exaustion. If we had gotten into a fight with Uli, you would be less help than if you were fully rested."
"I am FINE!" Holly said, near to shouting. Her heart sped up and her eyes widened as adrenlin dumped into Holly's system. "I don't need to sleep!"
"Why?" I asked calmly.
"Because I don't," Holly said, looking at the ground and kicking a dirt clod.
"Why?"
"Because..."
"Why?"
"Because...because if I sleep...
they'll come through and I don't think he can stop them again...he's too old...he nearly died last time protecting me."
"Who will come through and who's too old?"
"Stuff of my nightmares will come through," Holly replied. "And LeRoy's too old to fight them."
"Who is LeRoy?" I asked.
"He's my...my guardian," Holly said, looking up at me with a pleading look. "In my world, he's nothing more than an old balding, stuffed lion I've had since I was four...but here..."
"He's like Lord Avondale only much older?"
"Yeah...in a way."
"So sleep. If these creatures from your nightmares come through, I'll help LeRoy."
"Like Rommie did against the Magog?

"Yes."
After a moment's pause, Holly said, "Okay fine. But let the others know."
"I will," I replied, shepharding Holly back to Dragon's house.
