"Damnit," I growled, rushing outside. Just as I threw open the door to the porch, I saw Nogard rip the head off the Isuat. Sliding to a stop next to the girl, I said to Nogard, "You know, I kinda did want her alive for questioning."
"...Oops," Nogard replied, lifting her eyebrows. Looking at the girl, who was now kneeling on the ground clutchng her head, Nogard asked, "You okay?"
"I just had my forehead sliced open by a talking deer," the girl replied. "If I had known she was there, I could have built a defense against her."
As I was about to ask the girl her name, Nissa's hologram image appeared next to me. "Incomming transmission from Wynn."
"Display," I replied.
Next to Nissa's hologram, a hologram of Wynn appeared. "Dragon, there's a problem."
"What?" I asked.
"She's been captured because she's living on her own with no guardians," Wynn replied.
"No guardians?" I said, astounded. "That's bull! Lilah made me Rose's guardian! Where did they take her?"
"ANTIE's tracking her," Nissa replied, rolling her eyes to the sky. "She's sending the coordinates right now."
"Um, Dragon?" Wynn said. "ANTIE said there's some top secret information on Rose that only you have the authority to access that pertains to the situation."
"Right," I replied. "Patch me through to ANTIE."
"Hello Dragon, long time no see," ANTIE said, her hologram appearing on the other side of Wynn's.
"Hello ANTIE," I replied. "I'd exchange more pleasantries, but for now give all access to Wynn and the others relevant to the situation. Captian Dragon of the Nerissa Altsoba, code Alpha Tango Zulu Charlie Whiskey Bravo Kilo Mike Six!"
Blinking, ANTIE said, "Code accepted."
Turning to Nogard and the girl, I said, "Come or stay; but I'm going after Rose."
"We are
both coming," the girl said, standing.
"You need to have your head looked at," Nogard said, looking at the girl.
"I know I'm crazy," the girl replied. "But, yes, the cut will have to be healed. Dragon, will you do the honors? No offense Nogard, but I'd rather be healed by water than by fire."
"None taken," Nogard replied as I healed the girl's wound.
"Are you decent in a fight?" I asked the girl.
"You'll just have to wait and see," the girl replied, winking.
