Shalimar's point of view
After the stranger had thrown me across the room, I struggled to stay awake. Mom and Gemma were in trouble and I needed to help. Shaking my head to clear it, I looked up in time to see the man kill Gemma and mom appear out of thin air to attack.
When she saw the stranger's face, mom stopped in her tracks and became very pale. "You..."
"Yes my dear little one," the man said, advancing on my mom with a fireball in his hand. "It has been quite some time since we last saw each other. I belive this will be the last. That fool of a gold dragon will never interfere again."
Lord Abondale? I thought randomly. Where is he anyway?
Backing away from the man, my mother hissed something in a language I was not familer with. It was neither of the common language from Gaia nor was it dragon language. Surprisingly, the man began to hiss back. As the two of them "talked" I carefully checked on mom's guardians and Wynn to make sure they were all still alive--thankfully they were.
"DON'T YOU TOUCH HER!" mom yelled, scaring me. Looking over my shoulder, I saw mom attempt to dive in front of a fireball that the man had thrown in my general direction.
Remembering something my mother had done, I waved my right arm and summoned an ice barrier around myself. To keep an eye on events, I had formed the ice so that it was as clear as glass. The fire ball slammed into my shield and sputtered out.
"SHALIMAR!" mom yelled, banging on the wall I had encased myself in. "BEHIND YOU!"
"So powerful for one so small."
Spinning around, I saw that the man had somehow gotten into my barrier. My barrier was constructed in a way that only I could pass in and out of it. Somehow, the man must have moved so fast that he was behind me before I could finish constructing the barrier--and that meant he was explicitly fast.
Before I could react, the man shot forward and picked me up in his hands. Pulling my head to the side, the man first nuzzled into my neck before biting it. "Young blood..."
"SHALIMAR!" mom screamed hysterically, banging on the ice wall hard enough to crack--but not break--it
