"Nyah nyah! You can't catch me!"
"Jadey come back here!" Serenity laughed, chasing after a smaller version of herself. Noticing that her sister was about to run into the parade route for the new king, Serenity said, "Jade! No, stay out of the street!"
"Come and get me then!" the two-year old laughed, ducking beneath a sawhorse and darting into the street.
"JADE!"
Laughing, the little girl spun around in the middle of the street, not realizing that the new king was using the parade route today and that he was about to come around the corner. Tripping over her feet, Jade fell to the ground just as the new king came around the corner. Catching his foot in the girl's stomach, the new king fell flat upon his face.Oh no,
Serenity thought, rushing out onto the parade route and scooping Jade into her arms and backing away from the new king. No, no, no, no!
Slowly, the new king rose to his feet and spun to face the two girls. He had short black hair that continually fell over one of his blazing red eyes and pale skin. As a sign of his recent victory, he wore the collar bone of a young dragon on his shoulders. The rest of his outfit was black; silk shirt, baggy pants, gloves with poisoned tipped nails attached, pointed boots with steel tips, and a shadow cloak.
Regarding the two girls for a moment, the new king shot one of his hands out and grabbed Jade by the front of her flower printed dress and yanked her out of Serenity's arms. Before Serenity could move to get her sister back, two of the king's guards grabbed her arms and held her back. Without a word, the king dragged the screaming and kicking girl to the town square.
