"Mom, I'm hungry," Shalimar said. "Can you go get something to eat?"
Looking at Shalimar for a moment, I said, "You need to learn how to hunt. You're old enough now."
"Really?!" Shalimar asked excitedly. "Can I bring Wynn--"
"No," I interrupted. "Wynn cannot come."
"Why?" Wynn asked.
Looking at Wynn, I said, "Trust me, you don't wanna know."
Wynn started to say something but Tikki and Ikkit placed a paw on her and shook their heads. "But...oh, FINE."
Putting an arm around Shalimar's shoulder, I led her outside. Directing her to transform into her dragon form, I took off and led Shalimar to one of my favorite hunting grounds--far enough away from gaia that I knew for sure that none of my friends would accidentally come across me.
Landing in a clump of trees and shrub, I began to whisper to Shalimar the fine arts of hunting when a green phoenix landed in the clearing upwind from us with a 40-foot wingspan. Altering the composition of my scales, I turned my body invisible. Staying low to the ground, I slithered silently towards the phoenix. When I was within striking range, I turned my scales to normal and shot a spray of boiling steam at the phoenixes face.
Crying out in pain, the blinding phoenix attempted to take to flight. Shooting foward even more, I caught the phoenixes neck in in my jaws and snapped it. Hearing a roar from behind me, I turned and saw Shalimar leap to tackle a large husky-wolf demon as it charged me. Taken over by bloodlust and the hunt--and a mother's instinct to protect her offspring--I dropped the dead phoenix and turned on the husky-wolf demon.
Snarling I roared in dragon language for Shalimar to let go of the demon's throat so I could get a clear shot at the mutt. Releasing the throat, Shalimar tucked into a ball as she rolled across the ground. Inhaling deeply, I opened my ice lung and shot a spray of ice shards at the husky-wolf demon that pierced him in many diffrent places.
Hearing a squall of pain, I whipped my head around and saw a large bengal tiger gnawing on Shalimar's neck. Roaring, I started forward but stopped as shalimar suddenly whipped her tail around and picked the tiger up with it. Throwing the tiger into the air, Shalimar hit it with her own blast of ice shards. As I watched, Shalimar turned the blast from ice shards to boiling steam. Grinning I watched Shalimar drag the corpse over to the pile that I had already created with the husky-wolf demon and green phoenix.
As I began to eat, Shalimar raised her head and looked about. Still over taken by bloodlust and the hunt, she raced towards a tangle of quivering shrubs downwind of us. Recognizing the two smells, I stepped on Shalimar's tail to hold her back. Growling in dragon language at Shalimar to stay put, I lumbered over to the shrub.
Using one of my gigantic paws to pull the shrub away, I glared down at Koopa and Chazu. They were both looking at me and Shalimar with their mouths working but no sound coming out.
Transforming into my human form, I took the camera that chazu had and destroyed it. "You two got damn lucky. If Shal or I had detected you before I was out of bloodlust or still overpowered by the hunt, you two would've been killed." Looking them each in the eye, I added, "Do not ever follow me or shal when we hunt again. I do not want to find out one day that she or I killed you. Now go home, both of you. Chazu, I'll replace your video camera when I get back."
