Sitting down and placing my back against the back wall of the Barton Botique between it and the windmill behind it, I pulled off my peasant booties and rubbed my swollen feet. I have been wandering around looking for traces of
Orsnic for the past few days now with no luck. How can humans stand being so damned weak? They can only go for so many days before having to stop and rest.
"I had heard that there was a weakened blue dragon about here somewheres," a sinister voice hissed above me. "To my surprise, it is you Dragon."
"Midori," I growled, recognizing the voice but looking
up at her anyway. Slipping my booties on, I scrambled to my feet and backed away from the wall as Midori slithered down the wall. "What do you want?"
"Dragons are rare delectables since few can fight a full powered dragon and survive," Midori replied, circling me. "Which is why recently hatched dragons must be watched so closely by their mothers. They know that someone like me will come and try to eat their young."
Suddenly, I wished I had my Louies, my Dinos, my Guardians, or one of my friends when Midori whipped towards me while tighting her coils. At the last possible second, I leapt into the air and did a flip to the right to avoid both the coils from wrapping about me and to avoid having Midori's fangs sink into my flesh.
Landing awkwardly on the ground due to lack of a tail, I teetered then fell to my side. Although it felt as though something broke in my left ankle, I did not have time to cry out as Midori was preparing to strike again. As she flew at me with all her powers of the snake driving her forward, I rolled to the right as she slammed face first into the ground next to me.
Scrambling to one foot and hopping like crazy to keep my balance, I said to Midori, "I'm only human now! You have never eaten humans!"
"When I was younger I did," Midori replied, swaying. "That was before I had gotten my fangs into a phoenix and craved those with magical powers. But for you, I will make an exception."
I had no chance to reply as the end of Midori's tail shot out of nowhere and knocked me flat on my back. Stunned, I lay still for a moment or two to allow my head to clear. Instinctively, I crossed my arms over my face just as Midori struck. When her mouth struck my arms, I was surprised to see her fangs snap as they slammed into a black cloud substance that was appearing on my hands and forearms.
I was so absorbed into watching my black GetaGRIP gloves appear into existance that at first I had no idea that acid-poison from Midori's broken fangs was dripping onto me until a droplet singed my forehead.
Sitting up, I saw that Midori was screaming and holding her mouth and slithing quickly into the sewers. Disregarding her again, I stared at my gloves. Unlike when I went into dragon form for a moment to scare Skully off, the gloves appeared like they were going to stay.
"Could I be getting my draconic powers back?" I mumbled, staggering to my feet and limping towards the
