Entering the Skull Kingdom, pt2
Shalimar continued to laugh.
"I ORDER YOU TO STOP LAUGHING!" Skully roared.
"It may not be a good thing to make him angry," Wynn said, cracking a smile at Skully's predicament.
"He...mom...iced," Shalimar said between giggle fits. "You...admit...funny!"
Shouldering past the others, Creighton walked up to the block of ice holding Skully and placed both his hands and his forehead against it. After a moment or two, Creighton said over his shoulder, "She's going to release him."
"Is that all together wise?" Wolf asked. "He seems in a near frenzy at the moment."
"Better now than later," Creighton replied. Backing away, he grabbed Wynn's hand and Wolf's arm and pulled them off to the side. "You two shouldn't attempt to fight him. Leave it to Shalimar."
Just as Creighton had finished speaking, the ice holding Skully in place thawed. Instantly, Skully transformed into his battle gear. His eyes glowing red, Skully flew at Shalimar with an infuriated roar. Still giggling, Shalimar appeared to be caught off guard as Skully slammed into her and drove her through his castle wall. Thrown two hundred yards outside the castle, Shalimar lowered her scythe and glared at Skully.
"Very well," she said as Skully came racing out after her. "Mom once put you in your place, it's time you learned it again."
"What does she mean by that?" Wolf asked as the two circled into the air to fight each other.
"Dragon has fought Skully before," Wynn replied as Shalimar and Skully squared off. "Dragon was the winner obviously."
"Interesting," Wolf said as they watched the fight.
Skully and Shalimar clanged off each other multiple times--raining sparks down as their weapons clashed. Several times, drops of blue blood splashed to the ground as Skully scored a hit--or chips of bone if Shalimar happened to have scored a hit. After what seemed like an eternity of these back and forth hits, Skully managed to knock Shalimar's scythe out of her hand.
"No!" Wolf exclaimed as Skully drove his sword through Shalimar's stomach hard enough to plunge it through to the hilt. With a pained expression, Shalimar slid off the sword and plummeted fifty feet to the ground head first. When he attempted to go after her, Wynn and Creighton held him back. "Let me go!"
"It's not over," Wynn replied.
Descending slower than Shalimar, Skully landed next to her prone form and tilted his head. "I...won? I won?! I WON!!! HOLY CRAP I WON!!!!"
Dancing a little jig, Skully chanted, "IwonIwon, I wooooon! IwonIwon, I wooooon! IwonIwon, I wooooon!"
"MURDERER!" Wolf roared, straining against Creighton and Wynn. "YOU KILLED HER!"
Snapping out of his reverie, Skully looked at Wolf. "Who are y--?"
A giant scythe suddenly whipped through the air, severing Skully's spine. As the top half fell to the right and the bottom half fell to the left, Shalimar lifted her scythe and set it on her shoulder. Ignoring the others, Shalimar placed a foot on Skully's chest cavity and pressed down so she could easily detach his skull.
"How are you alive?!" Skully asked as Shalimar straightened with his head in her hand.
"I had figured out a way how to relocate my internal organs while in this form," Shalimar replied calmly. "Good timing too, if I had been off by half a second you would've skewered something vital."
"That's not fair!" Skully whined. "I had won!"
"I'm not my mom," Shalimar said. "I play to win. If that means using underhanded tricks, then so be it."
