I was gonna say it was anticlimatical, but I stand corrected
A couple of minutes ago, sirens started going off. Since I live about 3-4 blocks up from a fire department I didn't give it a second thought. That was until the sirens sounded really close.
At first I thought it must be a block over, but the sound of a huge idling engine drew me to the front windows of my apartment. Lo and behold, there's a FIRE ENGINE out front. First thing I did was look up and down the street to see if there was a fire but I didn't see anything so I sat and watched the three paramedics go into the building to the left of mine.
They were in there for about fifteen minutes then one came out. I called my dad during the middle of this (since he owns my apartment building) and he said next door is a shelter for battered women.
My senses were perked up.
When the fireengine turned it's lights off and drove away, I at first thought that was it, show was over. But when I went to my living room (at the back of the apartment) where my computer is, I happened to notice colored lights from the alley. I opened my blinds a little and there were the other two paramedics loading someone into the back of an ambulance.
I am going to keep an eye on the local newspaper and post the article once I find it.
