It has been a long while since I have written in a journal on just about anything. While reviewing some of my old notes, I thought of putting in this page.
Religion, this is a touchy subject for most people. For me, I have learned not to care too much, until someone does something horrible and blames it on religion. My thoughts on humans hasn't changed much from an old post I put in. Humans are still disgusting creatures for the most part, and moral still isn't good. I have researched and learned that too many atrocities have been committed in the name of religion.
Recently I feel I've come through a break through. After being born and raised Christian-Baptist, became Wiccan, and later agnostic, I have come to a very simple conclusion. Religion was created by man, for man. I have dome much research on multiple religions, some more than others. My findings lead me to believe a very simple truth, that as a human being, we cannot know the truth of anything beyond our own beings. We may learn about the world around us, and some even view they know of the spiritual realm. But in regards to God/s, we know nothing. None of us were in the past when any of these sightings or experiences were said to have taken place. We have so many recordings of so many different kinds of experiences of Gods or godlike beings, but they are recorded by mankind, and man (in general, including women) are liars, and exaggerate many things. So, in the most simplist way I can, I have accepted that, as a human being, I have no idea.
I believe in a higher power alright, but who am I to say I know how it operates? There's more arrogance in saying that someone knows how God thinks than I view should be permitted. I do not know if God is a man or woman, I do not know if there are even more than one. Because God, or Gods, are not human. Mankind is trying to make these beings out to be like humans, in order to try and understand them. The simple truth is, we cannot comprehend such beings. If there is one, omnipotent being who created the universe, we cannot hope to understand the vastness of it's power. This has led me to believe the possibility that if the universe was created by a big bang, then it's not entirely impossible that a sentient being emerged from the energies, and learned to manipulate the very rules of the universe.
As for my current belief, I have decided to simply be human. If we were indeed created as some Christians believe, by God, then there are 2 simple rules that we can believe. 1 is that human beings cannot judge another's soul. You CANNOT, it is not your right, you cannot say whether or not someone will go to Heaven or Hell, if they exist. That is solely reserved for God. You can try and say they will go somewhere, based off of facts you don't know the truth of, but the finality of it rests with God. And 2, God gave man free will. In almost every religion that has one or multiple Gods, that is the one truth, is that man has free will. Humankind are imperfect beings, capable of never being perfect, yet there are so many who try to act like they are. Like they know everything, that they are better than everyone else. This is a sad image they've created for themselves. So long as humankind exists, so long as we live, we are incapable of ever being perfect.
So to reiterate, I do not know how God thinks, I was never there for the birth or life of Jesus Christ, or any other persons who have worked "miracles" or taught the word of a religion that was just starting. What I do know is that I do not know the truth, and I cannot trust a book written by human beings just because they say "God" chose them. How do I know? People say rely on faith, but faith can easily mislead someone. "Faith", does not mean "truth."
The song "God Thinks" by Voltaire near the top of the page is possibly my favorite song right now, and is the proof that to know what God thinks is the ultimate arrogance.
