i just got back like fifteen minutes ago. and that show was by far the most impressive i have EVER seen. it was performed by a traveling broadway group. ooh goodness i'm totally going to gush all about this. aaah. okay, where should i start? the beginning, of course!
so, you know how in the movie it starts with that whole auction scene and the auctioneer (guy who sells stuff...) is talking about the chandelier that fell in the opera house a bunch of years ago, but now it's restored and it's got fancy new electric lighting, etc. well the play starts out the same way, and when the drape thing is pulled off of the chandelier there's this huge flash, (like a big explosive firework!) and then the chandelier starts rising up and it swings out towards the audience (which is totally CRAZY!) and it goes up to the ceiling and hangs there. amazing. so amazing. then all these old dusty looking curtains are pulled off of the front part of the stage and replaced with pretty new looking curtains. pretty. darn. awesome. all the sets were amazing. completely AMAZING! and there were tons of explosion parts and stuff. like someone would fire a gun and you'd hear the loud bang, and see the smoke. oh, and there was this one part, during "masquarade" when the phantom comes out and talks about his new production that he wants them to do, etc. and then bam, he disappears. but when he dissapears there's this huge puff of fire and you could actually feel the heat of it on your face! woow. okay, now i'll start blabbing about the actors.
Christine was really good. she had lots of expression and stuff, (though a little melodramatic, but everyone was. it just made it more fun to watch) she had a good voice, though i think it had a bit to much of the vibrating sound. um. you know what i mean, right? it's called vabrato or something like that? no clue how to spell it. anyways, she still had a good voice. and she had her hair all curled in ringlets and stuff, and the dresses were amazing. *sigh* i would love to wear those dresses...
Phantom was really good. his voice wasn't really like the one in the movie or anything, but it was still good. i do like the movie actor's voice better though. but phantom was amazing at his part too.
Carlotta was reaally reaaally opera singingy, of course. and it was really fun to watch her. she was also crazy dramatic, which was even more hilarious. she did good.
the guys in charge of the theatre were fantastic. one of them looked really similar to one of the movie actors.
madame Giry was amazing. her voice was more of an alto though, when i thought it was supposed to be suprano? anyways, her character didn't seem quite as caring and motherly, but more strict teacher. but it was good as well (of course...)
Meg did really good. and she's an excellent dancer. man, i wish i could dance on pointe like those girls. it was fantastic. her voice was okay, not as good as i would've liked, but okay.
okay, and the last one i'm going to talk about is Raoul. and that's because i have a ton to say about him. when i first saw him, i just thought (oh. he doesn't look like the guy in the movie at all..) but then when he got in the light and i saw his face. oh my. god. he was GORGEOUS! no kidding!! he was like, the most handsome guy i've ever seen in my whole LIFE! ooh goodness. totally took my breath away. and his voice? excellent. god, it was AMAZING!. as soon as we hit intermission the girl who was sitting next to me goes "Raoul is so hot!" lol!! ooh gosh. *sigh* i have his picture in the program. i'll treasure it forever. as much as i'd love to keep blabbing about the dazzling-ness of his face, i'll just stop now.
the whole show was amazing. i kept getting chills from the amazingness of it. it was DEFINATELY worth the money for the ticket. i was so hyper after seeing it, and so happy! i hope one day i'll be able to be up there on that stage being as good as them! and i'd better wrap this up and do my homework now, before i fall way behind.
totally in awe,
krissy

Don't you just hate when someone says, "I <3 you."?
I mean seriously, all they're saying is "I less than 3 you."
Woot. Someone less than 3's you. Celebrate, why don't ya.
