Everyone who has an asian friend, who is asian, or knows of the asian culture knows that having asian parents is an experience.
i am pinoy. pinoy ako. that means that i am Filipino. Although many people from the mainland believe that filipinos aren't asian. I beg to differ. Most of the Filipino heritage comes from china with Spanish blood from the explorers.Which gives us a Caramel Galzed look. Takeing a look at all the asian countries, and their culture, you have to understand that we are immigrants that want a better life for ourselves and for our families, we want to honor our families, and to have things that we could not have before. These three goals seem to have a great impact of the actions of asian families. When we want to better ourselves, we know that gaining knowlage which change to money which leads to prosperity. When we want to honor our families, we must be deciplend, respectful, and prosperous with family; which means sons.. all daughters must have sons. When we want to have things that we could not have before, we have to first understand what we can and can't have which deciplines young asians what they can and can't have which helps the child understand that you have to work for those things that you want ; again dicipline.
Why is my journal entry called THE ASIAN PARENT EXPRIENCE? it's because having this kind of atmospher of dicipline, respect, and honor. The actions of the parents are very typical. For one thing every asian parent has to make sure that their children and doing well in school, honorable, and also pure. What i mean is that they have to keep order in their household. Asian children are usually under parental supervision longer than the usual kind of parental supervision should be kept. take for example my family. My parents make sure that we're doing good in school; and i am. Make sure that i'm honorable by keeping me free of different activies like doing drugs, wild partying, which makes me wife material. And pure, by keeping me of clean soul.. which means no boyfriend, no horrizontal cha-cha, and no pregnecy. Knowing these things you understand that the asian parent is = strict.
Another thing to realize is tha Asian parents usually first generation. SO their understanding of the surroundings is different from their understanding. Like their understanding of Privacy. They come from a culture that doesn't have any or very little personal space. Which means they will do anything with out shame. It's amazing what they will do. FOr example, underwear shopping. They will have no shame of what they buy or who see's them buying it. They're culture doesn't need them ashamed because usually, they know who is around them like family and their small community friends. usually everyone knows everybody.
