Capt. Deep and her crew went to sleep, as they all thought they deserved it after the work they had just gone through. It was the middle of the night before anyone woke up, and they were instantly at work despite the time and poor lighting.
Capt. Deep closed her compass and tilted the wheel slightly to the right. Crewmates came up to her with announcements on the depth of the water, and other reports of things in the water and onboard.
Capt. Deep got to watch the sun come up, which almost never happened. She would only get to see the last few minutes of it. This time she got to watch the whole thing.
As noon rolled around, a crewmate in the crow’s nest announced that they saw the commodore’s ship approaching.
