To my friends, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you.
I don't expect you to find this journal entry for some time, and some may never again come back onto Gaia, but I still want to type the words...If they come to me, that is. I haven't really thought through what I want to say to you other than the fact that regardless if we are still in contact, if I called you "friend" at some point, then you made an impact on my life. There isn't a doubt in my mind that had we not met, had we not interacted -- for good or bad -- I would be a very different person than I am today.
And It seems a little strange to me that I hold a debt of gratitude to a website, especially one as silly as Gaia Online. What else can I call it, though? During every rough patch of my life from being a moody teenager to struggling with my sexuality, there has always been a place for me here. I've never once felt out of place while in this little virtual world that Gaia and you, my friends, have helped me build. Whether I was lonely, sad, or just bored, there was always something to do. On more than one occasion, had it not been for the various activities on Gaia, I would have done something self-deprecating.
Please rest assured that I am well beyond that part of my life. I've worked hard to get myself out of the worst of my depression. 3nodding It took a decade, but I'm finally at a part in my life where I can see the value in myself.
