There’s an important lesson learn in the episode, “Besides the Dying Fire” on The Walking Dead.
No matter how safe you think you are, always make sure that you’ve establish a back up plan. Hell, it helps to have a back up for the back up plan in case it fails. I hope the characters learned that when they had to leave Hershel’s farm. If not, at least we, the viewers did.
If you find a safe haven or whatnot make sure that you know all the escape routes. That you know where else you can go to should something happen to the location you’re at. It helps that you have a way to get there too.
It’s also important that you have several bags filled with essential things for survival, scattered over the escape routes. Why? Because should something happen, having a bag already pack can save time and your life. One bag besides your bed and/or another inside your escape vehicles can be good. Even being extra caution by stashing a bag somewhere else can help if any of the escape routes become compromise.
It can apply to vehicles, if you have a car then make sure it’s always full of gas. If something happens and you didn’t have the time to do that then it helps to have a container of gas.
