DETAILED PERSONALITY
Jan is good at keeping his cool, and there are only a few surefire ways to upset him. He often ends up being the voice of reason when things get chaotic.
He, much like Leon, is curious about how Earth works, though he is much more reserved about it than she is. He's always up for doing something with friends.
He can't stand seeing people being taken advantage of or hurt, as it reminds him of what happened to himself before, and doesn't like seeing people stuck in a bad situation-- so he ends up being something of a defender, standing up for those he feels cannot or will not stand up for themselves. He's even jumped into the middle of a fight to shield somebody from a punch (he's nearly died protecting Leon in this fashion from her inhuman opponents).
His previous ordeal has made him rather mistrusting of anybody who actively touts spiritual beliefs of any kind, and he is outright paranoid of religious authority figures.
CURRENT/HOME UNIVERSE
JANIMYD'S PAST
When his planet was attacked by a hostile race on a neighbouring world, Janimyd (along with hundreds of others) escaped to find a more peaceful place to live. Jan landed upon a planet occupied by an incredibly spiritual race, who believed he was the reincarnation of their God.
They worshiped him, prayed to him, and even made sacrifices to him. They locked him up in a holy structure with several priests to guard him-- he was not allowed to leave this facility under any circumstances. He rarely conversed with anyone, for it was forbidden for anyone not in a position of power in their church to speak with him. He could not seek or request food on his own, and was only allowed to eat food offered to him by his 'followers.'-- anything not given to him through commitment of faith was 'unclean' and they did not see it fit to let him have any.
He tried to explain that he wasn't who they thought he was, but they thought he was simply testing their faith. Eventually, he became fed up. Despite being a normally docile creature, his situation forced him to act, and in a fit of desperation, he killed the priests guarding his chambers and ate them out of starvation, then made his escape.
He ended up crashing on Earth, where he met Leon. She hid him away for a while, until a series of events brought into her possession a device that could disguise the user's appearance. She gave it to Jan, and so long as he is conscious/awake, he can use it to disguise himself as a human and live a (relatively) normal, (sometimes) peaceful life on Earth.

His bottom half is just a mess of writhing tentacles, and at the front he has two longer, true tentacles ending in broad, leaf-like pads. The suction cups on his tentacles are a slightly darker shade of his body colour.
The wings and protrusions on his neck are made of a pale red, gel-like substance.
On his stomach is a mouth much like a lamprey's.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Leon was the one who helped him out when he landed on Earth, and he considers her his best not-Earthling friend. He would rather die than see her hurt, and does everything he can to protect her. They have a bond over being unwillingly separated from their respective planets, and also have mutual feelings for each other. Their theme is Circuit Lover by she.
He thinks Tobias is needlessly rude. The two of them argue constantly.
Wary of Gwen, though is not nearly as afraid of her as Leon is.
OTHER s**t
The cloaking device was damaged by the time Leon got a hold of it, and because of this, Jan still retains the lamprey-esque mouth on his stomach from his original form. It's located about two inches above his navel.
Loves ferris wheels.
Favourite food is tuna.
