The Old Life, Chapter 14
A year and a half later
Life now has been more excitting then ever. Mafuca has been like another mother to me and I've passed my graduation test. My teammates are Boda and Grimu. I know Boda really well now. Grimu on the other hand is way different. We all waited for our instructor while seating or standing. Boda stayed close to me and I mean close. I told her I really didn't like people clinging on to me like that but she kept on doing it. I soon got over it though. Pulling my arm away from her grasp, I walked out the door. "W-where are you going Saga-chan?" Boda spoke alittle shakey. "To the bathroom," I sighed. "Oh." Before I left Boda's face was madly red with blush. Payng no mind to her I went to the bathroom. While walking there an instructor ran past me panting, that was ours.
Walking out of the bathroom, I felt better. When I walked back into the room, our instructor was asleep leaning on the chalk board. I wanted to slap her awake but she awakened when I closed the door. "Where were you?" her eyes were covered by her massive, untrimmed bangs. She wanted to know our names after I explained to her where I was. Boda went first, "I'm Boda Bonqui. I'm 12 years old and hope to be loyal to my village and have a happy life." "I'm Grimu, 13 years old. In life I want to be the greastest healer in my clan, but most of all I want to kill the man that killed my mother." "I'm Saga Saland, 12 years of age and I really don't know what I want to do in life." "Hm. Well that's it for today. Come back tomorrow for team pratice." "But what abut your name?" asked Boda. "Oh, me? I'm Vocami, 32 years and wanted to be a good girl." The last part of her introduction was weird but I didn't pay much attention to it.
When dismissed our team walked around the village not really going anywhere. I wanted to go somewhere by myself but it didn't matter to me if they followed me or not. "Saga, where are you going?" Boda questioned me again. "Some where." "Is it alright if we came?" "We?" Grimu repeated that word not liking it. "Yah, we're a team now and should be together as a team." "Fine," said Grimu rolling his eyes.
We walked all the way to Lenda's house. It was in rumbles and ashes. Some of it fully burned down. I thought I saw a piece of a bone. Probably from one of the unlucky cats that couldn't get out. That reminds me, I wonder what ever happened to Shadows father. I hope he got away. His mother is probably thinking the same thing (she had already died from giving birth, she was pretty weak and tired). Boda gasped, "This used to be the house where that lady took care of the felines. Why did you come here Saga?" I was quiet, still thinking back to the time I lived here. "I used to live here." "Are you serious?" I nodded. After that we seperated.
At home...home. Is that what I called it now. It was better then calling it Mafuca's house.... At home, Mafuca has taught me many things. Like how to cook, do homework, and house chores. "How was your day?" she asked me. "Ok." "Dinner will be done in a bit." I didn't hear her becasue I had gone up the stairs. My Akatsuki coat hung in my closet. As it did I thought about what was going on in the hindeout. Was Tobi still being Tobi? Did anybody miss me except for Tobi and Deidara. But for now I'm out of there until they get me.
The next day was our team had practice. We had to fight our instructor. At the end we passed with team work without even noticing it (not that bell crap that Naruto's group had to do). During that Boda and Grimu wore their headbands. I had mine with me, just not on me. I'm thinking of putting it around my neck. Anyway to celebrate our team, we went out for lunch. I had ordered fried fish with a bowl of rice and a side dish of oranges. Boda had chicken flavored ramen. Grimu got the miso(sp?) soup with rice. Lastly Vocami just got tea. Vocami asked us question after question while we ate. Boda mostly talked, so did Grimu but not much. I didn't care but it hurts inside when no one speaks to me when I'm sitting right infront of them or beside them. Actually I just like listening to others conversation. It gives me some knowledge about them I guess. While thinking this, I wanted to add sugar to my rice (yum). Reaching the bottle of sugar, Vocami's eyes looked at me. "You're so quiet Saga. Why don't you join in on the conversation." "No thanks," my voice sounded cold but I didn't mean for it to be. "I see." After lunch Vocami took us to the playground. No one was there, only the dust forming clouds. She told us to seat by the swings. Grimu leaned on the swing bars letting me and Boda sit. Even though I couldn't see Vocami's eyes, I could tell she was being serious now. "Today during lunch, I questioned you all. Mostly Boda and Grimu. Because of that I got to learn and know everything about you. Your birth, where you live, your dreams, ... everything," she paused, "If I was a spy, I could use that information to my advantage. I could go into your home, " she said pointing to Boda, "steal all your belongings, kill you, or kidnap you." She then looked over at me and Grimu. "You two have given me not alot of information. Saga, you gave me very or a pinch of it," another pause, "While you three were eating I was chosing the team leader. A leader must know everything, be calm, and NOT give away information or to much of it. With that I've decided to make Saga the leader."
