“Ah, how is the birthday girl? Best be glad that it ‘tis your birthday or her would have given you a speech that would have taken hours. Race you down, Kat,” with a quick smile from both they ran down the hall. They turned a corner and down the stairs, always head to head. As they came to the dining room, their father stood at the door with arms wide open and a big smile on his face. Before either could stop, they were taken into a big, warm embrace. “Good eve, Dad,” Kathrynia said as he put them down. “Gees Dad, what are you to do? Break our ribs,” Rath clutched at his sides. “Aye,” Arthur chuckled. “Seat yourselves, stop complaining and eat.” Exilda entered and sat at the head of the table, opposite of Arthur. Rath and Kathrynia sat between them. They said grace and ate in silence. After cleaning the dishes, Rath and Kathrynia left for the cellar, where a small training are was used when weather was not agreeable, or the moon. Arthur pulled a chair next to Exilda. “Do no fret, my dear. She is growing up as all children do.” “I know, but she is still my little girl.” Arthur smiled and pulled her close. “I understand why you fear this day. I highly doubt that the prophecy will come true. Most of the things that did come true were vague in the beginning. You will have a child. Oh, let me rephrase that…someone will have a child and on her eighteenth birthday (note that I did change her age), she will start a chain of event that “may” destroy Cabella. This may or may not be our Kathrynia. Many more girls have been born in Foxfern. The oracle never said when the child would be born. Nor can you really believe that it can be true as it was said many years ago. It could have been changed around,” Arthur said, quite in a matter of fact.
