“Why do you assume I know everything about your little boy?” Capt. Deep asked.
“You must know about him, I caught you in his room that night.” The commodore said.
“Yes, and I have a scar from where you shot me in my shoulder.” Capt. Deep said, with a smug grin.
“You deserved it. My son is destined to commodore and you are a pirate. No matter what he will hunt you down and kill you unless I do so first.” The commodore said.
“Not unless he does what he wants to do, and not what you want him to do. You’re forcing him to be what he’s not.” Capt. Deep said.
The commodore looked a bit shocked. “You know where he is, don’t you?”
“Why should I tell you?” Capt. Deep said.
“Because he’s my son. You and I both love him, but he’s my son and I think I have a right to know where he is. I was with him when he was born; I raised him after his mother passed away. I sent him to school, and I protected him.” The commodore said. “I love him as much as you.”
“Well, I have no idea where your bloody son may be. At the port when I left, he told me he was going to get his own ship and we would most likely never meet. I don’t know where he is or what he is doing.” Capt. Deep half lied.
The commodore looked out the window and out to Capt. Deep’s ship. “I’m sorry I dragged you out here. You may go back to your ship. I just wondered whether or not you knew…”
“Well, I’ll just leave then. Good night Jack, I’ll see you when our ships cross paths once again. And we battle once more.” Capt. Deep said.
“And one more thing before you leave, Deep.” Commodore said. “Stop calling me Jack.”
