I was skeptical when I heard that Wesker had a son and that he’ll be in the game. That seem cliche to me but considering this is a Resident Evil series it’s not THAT far-fetch. So my concern turn into interest and I couldn’t wait to see and learn more about Jake. It was also nice to see that Sherry was back in the series after so much time had pass.
This campaign was something I was looking forward to because it contain some interesting characters and I wanted to know more about them. I was happy to see Jake. He’s a refreshing, fun character and I’m glad he’s a protagonist unlike his father. I like his attitude and his humor. Sherry’s great, too. She’s a strong, capable female character and she’s one of my favorite female protagonists in the series now.
I also the scenery. It was nice to see them in different environments and not just the same ones from the other campaigns. But there were a few headache-inducing segments where vehicles are put into play that I just did not care for. They tended to be too fast-paced and confusing which cause some rage quit, especially with the snow automobile. And I didn’t like the fact that this campaign is focused more on scripted events than the others and lacks the thematic cohesion of the others.
But all in all, I feel like characters, Jake and Sherry make up for the annoyances I face in the campaign. They made it enjoyable for me and I mostly push through just to see their interaction in the cut scenes. Speaking of which, I did enjoy the chemistry between them. It wasn’t force and it didn’t seem out of place either. But at the same time it wasn’t too subtle that a person needed a magnifying glass to notice. Honesty, I think their bond…well the partnership was better develop then Leon and Helena which seem lacking to me.
I don’t know if I’ll do Ada’s campaign but if I do then don’t be surprise if I post something about it.
