Years ago there were rumors about a Devil May Cry movie in the works. A few years after that, it prove to be true. On February 28, 2011 it was announced that Screen Gems, the company responsible for making Capcom video game Resident Evil into a film series, had purchased feature film rights to the Devil May Cry series. It has been stated that Kyle Ward will be writing the script for the film. It has also been hinted that the film will follow Dante setting out to avenge his mother’s death, according to the Devil May Cry wikipedia page.
However, there’s not much known about this film. What little we do know is old information and it might not apply anymore. It originally was suppose to come out in 2013 but they moved the date to 2016. Right now, the film is in development. The most important thing everyone wants to know is what’s the film base on, the original series or the reboot?
It’s been confirmed by Capcom, at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) that it’ll be based on the reboot, DmC by Ninja Theory.
