Ramune bottles are known for the way they look rather than the way they taste. The bottles are made of glass with a distinctive codd-neck and a marble inside it. The interesting part of a Ramune bottle is that the marble seals the opening of the bottle by using pressure of the carbonation in the drink. To open the bottle, a device is used to push the marble inward (and it's always/attach with the bottle). The marble is than pushed inside the neck of the bottle where it rattles around while drinking.
The original flavor for Ramune was a citrus like lemon flavored drink. In fact, the name Ramune comes from the English word for lemonade. And there's also other favors, 35 in total: banana, blueberry, blue hawaii, bubble gum, cherry, cola, curry, disco dance, green apple, kimchi, kiwi, lemonade, lychee, mango, melon, muscat, octopus, orange, peach, pineapple, raspberry, strawberry, wasabi, watermelon, green tea, chocolate, vanilla, root bear, candy, bubble, flaming, sour, sweet, mystery and yuzu.
The ones I've tried were strawberry, melon, mango, watermelon and peach. They were pretty good and I remember the last favor that I tried was strawberry. I liked it so much that I decide to keep the unique bottle as a souvenir and as a book stopper or a paper weight (depending on how I rearrange my room). It's a nice and strange looking bottle that can give a room a sense of individuality but don't try to make it into a vase though. I've tried that and it's nearly impossible when that marble blocks most the opening of the bottle.
Don't be afraid to try it. It's not bitter or dull, actually it's kind of sweet depending on which favor you try. I've heard that lychee is a require taste for some. As for wasabi, octopus and those other odd sounding favors I have no idea if they're good. But I do suggest to sticking to a favor you like and know, especially for your first time trying it.
