Man, some progress has been made but not really the best kind that one can ask.......... Oh heck it ended not that well for the poor fish. sad
Basicly over the days that happend, it looked like at least a few neon tetras where going to live, but after about a week they all died out, leaving Neo all alone again.
It's not a total loss however, the four ghost shrimp that remained have stayed alive and are thriving in the tank. The lone cherry shrimp that i decided to name Cerrib appears to be dead as i have not seen him after one appearance that was very brief, so he gets crossed off on the survival list............. During the days i see all four of those ghost shrimp out at once, so there's some company for Neo, even though they tend to swim back and forth at the front of the tank, sometimes swimming up to the top before doing a nice nose dive and having a gracefull landing. I'm sad that all twelve of the neons have died, but i'm happy that at least the trip did not end up fruitless.
My dad intends on buying the adult tetras next time they go to the pet store instead of getting hte cheaper baby ones. I had a thought on one thing however on why the little ones died out- as well as the cherry shrimp. When i thought back at the fish store there where quite a lot of baby neons and only a couple of adults above the tank full of little ones. While one of the store workers was trying to scoop up over a dozen neons i saw a few inside the tank have died and floated around while this happens. These things when i think about it made me come up with the conclusion that they where put into the store about like a day or so ago, so they already have a nasty load of stress on them, and being caught into a bag, shipped back home, introduced to a new environment only added more stress. My guess is that at least a few would have lived if nothing else happened, but then my dad had to add plants when he could have gone to the store and bought them and put them into the tank first before even thinking of putting the fish and shrimp in there, adding a triple dosage of stress into those poor guys.
Do you agree with me or do you think there could be another reason for why they died out? Feel free to be honest in the comments as well as state how you feel from reading this.
Statistics for July 30: Neo: 1/1 Neon tetras: 0/12 sad Cherry shrimp: 0/1 Ghost shrimp: 4/6
Oh- and we did wait a few hours before we put them into the tank each time, letting them get used to the temperature of the water in the tank and all that.
