I find some things are not what they seem. When I was young I used to fear thunderstorms. Well that was partly because of my sisters telling me that there were demons in the clouds during them. I was absolutely afraid of them this is how the story went.

Back when My mother and her siblings were young they were told not to go out during lightning storms. They were also told to cover up any mirrors in the house during that time. A common thing done today. It is however explained that it is because lightning strikes the mirror and ends up hitting someone else. Explained in this story that the demons fire them into the rooms after seeing your reflection in them. You can see ghost in mirrors during this time also. Its the time that the fires of hell rise to earth. The rain is meant to prevent that from happening. My mother made the mistake one time to of going against my granparent's word. They walked outside to watch the storm. They said they played in the storm for hours and it felt good. Then a lightning hit so close to the house it made some houses go completely dark. when things go dark in a lightning storm only during a lightning bolt can you see. My mother and her siblings werent afraid so they kept playing, the lightning being their light. It wasn't until a dark figure appeared every once in a while during each pause in lightning bolts. Suddenly it appeared behind one of my aunts and whispered into her ear. She screamed and along with everyone else fled back into the house. They never figured out what it said, but my aunt never quite was the same about lightning storms, and I am not either. That said, i still go out during lightning storms...they just fascinate me for some reason.
