Just another lesson in how life never bores you if you're paying attention.

The color pink

Did you know that several centuries ago, pink was considered a color for men? A lot of people have trouble believing that. But it's true. In the Middle ages, red, representing fire and blood, was for men and blue, representing sky and water, was for girls. But sometimes they didn't have enough dye to make it all the way red, so they ended up with pink. And that was fine with them. They didn't think there was a girly thing about pink. It wasn't until the 20s that they switched, and now pink is for girls and blue is for boys. It confirms the statement, "real men wear pink."

History class

I'm really liking my history class. I used to hate history, but now I really like it. It's not one of those history classes where you spend almost the entire year studying each and every individual battle of the Civil War. That unit was pretty short, and now we're onto the jazz age, or the twenties. They had some weird fashion ideas then. It was then that girls started wearing knee-length skirts (which was SHOCKING for that era), wearing their hair boyishly short in a bob, wearing pink (which until then was a color for boys), wearing hats with almost no brims, and...get this... in the 20s it was extremely fashionable to be flat. I'm not kidding. It would seem that unless you're very flat, when you wear a necklace, the line of the beads will be ruined ( Consider your priorities for a moment...). Also, girls began smoking. Really short hair, smoking, flatness.... It's like all the girls of the jazz age wanted to look like boys with dresses. Weird...
