Okay, I just got an idea to write this (and I have to admit, this is mostly for my own well-fare since I have horrible gift-giving etiquette) so bear with me. If you have no clue who I am and you don't want to read, then don/t read.
I'll start with the don'ts, since there's a bagillion of them I'd love to point out:
DON'TS
1. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever (I emphasis EVER) tell someone, "Oops! I forgot to get you something for __________(-- insert holiday here)." or, "Oops! I forgot about you!" on a holiday concerning gift-giving (such as Christmas) to their face. Not only is it insulting, but it shows that you are inconsiderate, insensitive, and forgetful.
2. Never re-give gifts you don't want. Lets people know that you're cheap and completely broke (and the person who originally gave that to you will find out soon anyway).
3. Don't over-give gifts. Sure you might be generous, but giving too many makes them feel not only bad about not gettign you as much, but it also hurts your walet and makes people think you're merely sucking up to them. (My suggestion: the max is at least 3 per holiday... unless it's your parents or your kid.)
4. Here's a biggie: Don't give gifts that you have already opened or used. That's jut tacky. If you can't afford anything, just get them a card: they'll understand. If they don't, then deal with it. There are plenty of other chances to give anyway.
5. Something that's similar to number four that I've noticed a lot in many of my presents to some friends: They have a CD of our favorite band or their favorite band. IF you yourself are a music junkie, or love that person/band, or whatever other reason there is: DO NOT OPEN THAT CD. What do you think the reciever will think?
6. Don't give tacky gifts. I know that there are some people out there that give out things to their friends or family members like socks or a stick, but really, if you don't have any ideas, why don't you just give them money? Or at least a card. If you really want to give them something, ask them what they want or about something they like. Try getting something similar to that thing or get the thing itself.
7. Erm, for the last time, GET THE NAME RIGHT! ARGH! I hate it when I write the names wrong. It's pisses the person off sometimes!
8. During really huge hollidays such as Christmas, don't go around getting peopel useless things that you just know they're not going to use and are probably going to lay around the floor. It's a waste of your own money.
9. Don't be cheap. Really, that should explain itself there.
10. When giving any article of clothing (including shoes) make sure you get the right size. IF you don't, leave a gift receipt with the present.
Do's
1. Do try to remember to give gifts to those who have given you gifts in the past, such as friends, family, including parents.
2. Please, please, PLEASE make sure you make someone's day with a gift. Add a card to the present or a deal with it.
3. Make gift-giving fun. That's always nice. One time, I gave one of my friends the option of going to Game Crazy and picking out a video-game for me to buy for them. (Don't spoil them, though. Give them a limit, remember that.)
4. Try to make the gift as special as possible. I recently baked three dozens of Chocolate Molten lava-cake for my friends at school to have during lunch for Christmas. (What I mean is: GET CREATIVE)
5. If you're giving to a friend, let that person know you're thankful for them being your friend, or if to a parent, say you love them and you're grateful for everythign they do. You have no idea how much people like being appreciated.

Sweet. Now, I'm all done. I know not many are going to read this, so oh, well. If you are, tell me if I'm missing something.
