Lone Knight

“GAH!” Ryon yell as Rygoul’s blade rent into his already injured arm and cut the wound deeper. “How could you? You traitorous creation” Ryon panted out, this battle was taking all his strength just to hold Rygoul back. “How could I? How could I? Ha you are the one who started this or should I remind you?” Rygoul scoffed at his panting younger brother. “You are the one who charged in to save Tali. You, brother, not me wasn’t it also you who told me to follow my heart?” Ryon was ashamed “Yes Rygoul it was me. It was also my idea to attack the castle but, didn’t you agree?” He needed more time Deam and the others needed more time. “You still rely on those pitiful friends of yours?” Rygoul said, he would wait he would let them come in and defeat them all and prove he was more powerful than Ryon. “Do you think we could talk about the past so I might see where we went astray?” he asked, it was a daring move because Rygoul was never know for his kindness. “Yes it would pass the time quite nicely,” Rygoul said as he laid his Tyuorne blade down with a mighty thud as it hit the ground. “So where shall we began?” Ryon asked as he also laid down his Ryoge the other of the two great blades. “Maybe at the beginning” Rygoul smirked. “Ah yes back in Okanwa? Eh? Lets see if I can remember that day, the day we first set out on this adventure.” Ryon commented.
“Ah help Ryon! Help Ryon!” a young girl yells out. It is the Feudal era in Japan and a young girl dragon demon is falling out of her perch in a tall oak tree and she is desperately beating her wings trying to fly. ”Ryon!” she screams then out of nowhere a black flash catches her. “You ok Tali?” Ryon asks as he lands with her in his arms. “Yes… I think I am…yes I’m ok, thank you, but what took you so long?” Tali asks Ryon as she settles into his arms getting ready for him to fly. “I was practicing my sword fighting with Rygoul,” He answered as he flapped his wings and lifts off the ground. He flies toward a small village in the mountains a few huts and a tent are all that make it up. “My lord what is that smell” Ryon wrinkles up his nose. “It’s just the butchers, I think” Tali says as she laughs at his expression. The village smells of sunflowers Ryon noted once he lands. “Hey Ryon, Tali, where ya been?” a young boy with wolf ears ask as he runs up. “Around” Ryon says in his normal round about way. “Deam how are you?” Tali asks the young wolf boy. “Good you?” Deam answers as he strokes his black hair “Ryon tell me why again your and Tail’s hair is white.” “It’s because we are dragon demons Deam that’s why your hair is black and short while mine is white and long.” He says as he smiles to himself, Deam is always asking questions. “Deam, Ryon, Tali, help!” a young boy yells out as he runs around a tent into view his red hair tied into a ponytail. “I’m gonna get you” A large wolf eared boy laughs as he cases the fox boy. The wolf eared demon runs by Ryon as Ryon stretches out his arm to close line him. “OOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!” the wolf eared demon yelps as Ryon’s hits him square in the throat. “You ok Sen?” Ryon asks the wolf demon as he helps him to his feet. “Yeah but watch where you hit that hurt!” Sen answers as he wipes the dust off and puts his hair into his gray ponytail. “Hey Tey you ok?” Sen asks the young fox demon. “Yeah I’m fine not like you chasing me could scare me anyway mister Sen” Tey said with a smile and chuckled to himself not like you could catch me anyway. “Hey there you are Ryon,” another dragon demon says to Ryon as he walks up. “Oh hey Rygoul sorry bout that it’s just Tali yelled for me sorry bro,” Ryon tells his older brother. “It’s cool just wondering what happened and anyway practice is over so go and play or something I have to work,” Rygoul says as he turns around to leave “Joy” he adds rolling his eyes. “Well what yall wanna do?” Sen asks with a grin on his face. “You all go and play I’m gonna practice my flying” Tali says “Ryon will you come with me?” “Sure why not might be fun” Ryon answers as he flaps his wings ready to get away. Tali jumps on his back and off they go into the forest. “Why do they always go every where together mister Sen?” Tey asks. “Cause they in love,” Sen answers rolling his eyes. “Love? What’s that?” Tey asks just to pester Sen. “Love is a feeling you get when you really really like someone” Deam says before Sen can lie again.
“Tali! Tali!” Ryon yells as he wakes up. It is ten years later and the peaceful village of Okanwa is now war torn battlefield with blood and bodies strewn everywhere. “Ryon has grown into a warrior in these past years I see” Rygoul says as he flies overhead readying his army for another attack. “Yes that he has” comments Vincent as he floats by Rygoul’s side. “Why does he stay here to protect this mud pit?” Rygoul asks to no one. Little did Rygoul know that’s what has kept Ryon up these past nights since the beginning of the invasions. “Tali where are you? And Deam, Tey, Sen, where are you all?” Ryon asks to the wind as he grabs his sword and puts on his headband “Rygoul I’m going to stay here till they come back or die waiting,” Ryon says as he walks out of his little rocky cave. Slowly circling the area Rygoul noticed the distinguished smell of sunflowers, which he has come to hate. “I though we burnt the sunflower field near here Vincent?” he asks Vincent as they land. “Yes sir we did why do you ask? Do you smell them again?” Vincent asks with general concern in his voice. “Its nothing just a memory of the past I presume” he says blowing off the question.
In a village on the other side of the world a young demon cries out for his life as he is attacked on his path. “Help me someone help!” he yells as a sword whistles by his ear while he runs. “Kill him he’s a demon, kill him!” a priest yells out toward the raging crowd that is chasing the young demon. “Yes he is but… so am I,” a great man says as he steps out of the shade of a mighty elm tree. “Deam?” the young demon says out loud as he notices the man’s wolf tail and ears. ”Yeah little bro its me” Deam grins as he faces the hoard of people “anyone wanna take on both of us? You attack him you have to fight me.” “I’ll fight you Deam Tai,” says a blonde man as he steps out of the crowd as pulls out a large great sword and points it towards them. “My name is Cloud Strife and I will take you both on,” he announces. “Cloud, Cloud, Cloud, Cloud” the crowd begins to chant as Deam draws his lance and charges towards Cloud narrowly missing him. “Ha you fool thinking that would work on me,” Cloud says as he slices into Deam’s arm. ”Gah! Sey run I can’t win I’ll hold them off run now!” Deam says as he prepares for another attack from the already advancing mob. “I got your back” is all that is heard as a flurry of Shuriken and Kunai knives fall from the trees above the path striking the mob. “What the?!” Cloud’s cry is cut short as a Shuriken embeds its self into his throat. ”Hey! Who’s there?” Deam and Sen both cry out into the trees. “Just and old friend Deam. Sen you okay?” a shadow asks as it materializes next to Sen. “Holy sh…cow” Sen says as he realizes who the shadow is “Tey!” “Watch your langue mate” Tey says to Sen as he picks up his Shuriken and Kunai knives out of bodies and off the ground wiping the blood off them. “Here Deam” he throws a sword towards him “you might need this and Sen here” he throws two daggers towards him. “You fools I’m not dead yet!” Cloud yells as he rushes towards Sen then out of no where he stops as he realizes Tey’s knife is at his throat “what? How did you move so fast?” “I’m a shadow what you expect? Now I should kill you.” he says but then he remembers something Ryon said a long time ago “Letting an opponent live in defeat is worse then death to them.” “Do it and you’ll have to face an entire nation” Cloud smirks as he prepares to die. “No there is no need for more blood to be shed.” Tey says as he lowers his knife. “Fine I’ll kill him he deservers to die.” Deam says as he starts towards Cloud with his sword ready to deliver a killing blow. “No!” Sen says as he steps in front of Deam, his size is dwarfed by Deam’s massive height. “Sen move now” Deam says shoving him aside as walks towards Cloud. “No Deam No remember what Ryon said long ago ‘A opponent that lives by your grace is your greatest ally’ remember Deam?“ Sen says as he steps in front of Deam again this time with his daggers out and fangs bared. “Sen, Deam quit this senseless fighting,” Tey suddenly growls under his breath “if this continues I may have to kill both of you.” “Tey? Are you okay?” Deam says noticing a change in Tey that is terrifying. “I’m fine, now as for you” Tey says as he swings around to face the retreating Cloud. “What? You gave me my life and I’m grateful but I have a family to feed so I can not help.” Cloud says as he walks away. “Do not fret they are fine I checked on them before I came here,” Tey comments “so what’s your excuse now?” “I have none I am in your eternal debt,” Cloud says as he comes and bows at Tey’s feet “I give you my loyalty and my life.” Cloud stands and sheaths his sword waiting for Tey to accept him or turn him towards his home he is hoping for the latter. “Follow us and join in our quest Cloud Strife you are now one of our troop you may leave at any time you are held here by your free will,” Tey says as he walks to gather more of his knives and Shuriken.
“I don’t like him Sen I don’t like him one bit” Deam growls as he glares in Cloud’s direction they leave the forest behind. “You’ve been mumbling that the whole time we’ve been traveling now shut up!” Sey says. “Master Tey I see something in the distance,” Cloud says as he rushes back towards them. Tey had sent Cloud on patrol so that he, Sen, and Deam could talk more freely. They had been traveling for five days and now they have left the forest behind and are camped in a lush meadow. “What was it Cloud?” Tey asks jumping to his feet meeting Cloud just outside the light around the fire. “It was nothing much just a village that had been burnt and tore down there were signs of a fight and I though I saw someone but they had wings of a dragon and horns,” Cloud reports “also I could faintly smell sun flowers.” “Sunflowers!” Tey, Sen, and Deam all yell together. “Yes sunflowers,” Cloud replies noticing the shocked look on their faces “is that a bad thing?” “No Cloud it is a good thing it mean we’re finally home,” Deam answers this time he smiles. “Home,” Sen says as he thinks about Ryon and Tali and every thing that happened that day “maybe if Ryon is here he’ll know what happened,” he says aloud. “Yes Sen he might,” Tey says as he starts towards the location Cloud had walked from clutching his robes around him. “It’s cold out tonight,” he says “there’s someone watching us, I can feel them,” He looks around straining his eyes to find even a hint of movement as then he sees it, a small leaf tumbles to the ground with out the aid of wind. “Got ya!” Tey yells as he throws a knife towards the location of the leaf. “Tag your it,” A gruff voice says as the knife flies back at Tey who narrowly dodges it. “Ah!” A black flash that snuffs out the fire attacks Sen as throws him backwards into Cloud. “Sen, Deam, Cloud run!” Tey yells running back into the camp drawing his knives and throwing them towards the noises that he hears around the camp. “Sen? Deam?” the black flash stops its attacks and walks towards them throwing a flame on the fire.
“Ryon!” Sen says as he rushes over to the man and hugs him around the waist. “Sen I’m so sorry I though you were Rygoul’s scout party,” Ryon says as he tosses Sen into the air and catches him. “Why would you attack us if we were his party?” Tey asks after hugging Ryon himself. ”It’s a long story,” Ryon sighs as he sits down and helps himself to a little fish. “Well?” Sen asks as he sits next to Ryon noticing how much he has changed since they left the village. “Well what?” Ryon asks smiling “your taller and I can tell you’ve seen death before,” he manages to says between bites full of fish. “The story is what and yes I have,” he replies grabbing a fish of his own. “Okay then,” He says then noticing Cloud he grabs his sword and points it towards him “who are you?” he asks as he steps closer towards him. “I am Cloud Strife and I am honored to be of any help I can,” he says as he steps into the light of the fire and bows down. “There is someone trailing us by the way,” Tey says as he jumps down for his perch in the tree. “Hey there who are you?” Cloud says as he draws his sword and steps towards a shadow to the right of Ryon. “Ryon are they ok?” a young boy says as he steps into the light holding a katana in each hand. “Yeah Roxas they’re old friends,” Ryon says patting Roxas’s blonde hair. “Ok then I’ll go back to the town,” Roxas says as he begins to walk away. “No you stay here I don’t want you alone at the cave,” Ryon says holding him back. “Yes sir,” Roxas says sitting down next to Ryon. “Now back to the story if you don’t mind,” Deam says with an air of annoyance. “First off I think we should introduce ourselves,” Tey says as he leaps back into his tree “I am Tey Kai of this village as we all are.” “I am Deam Tai and the little runt stuffing his face is my little brother, Sen,” Deam says as he sits across from Sen and grabs a fish. “I am Cloud Strife and I am not from this village I am from Oanke to the north,” Cloud says sheathing his sword as he sits on the ground. “I am Roxas I am not sure where I’m from Ryon found me 15 years ago,” as he helps himself to Ryon’s fish. “Hey that’s my fish you little snot!” Ryon tackles Roxas and takes back his fish laughing he eats it in one bite. “Hey let me up!” Roxas yells as he punches Ryon square in the jaw and draws his swords. “Ha-ha can’t catch me,” Ryon laughs, as he appears behind Roxas sword drawn and ready. “Here you can have my fish Roxas,” Cloud says as he gets up and hands his fish to Roxas. “Thank you Cloud,” Roxas says as he devoirs the fish. “Now that we’ve all calmed down and are eating I’ll tell my story,” Ryon says as he kicks back and gets comfortable. “Well it started that day me and Tali went out into the woods we were attacked. I’m not sure by what it was dark and we were on our way back. I was flying with Tali on my back and suddenly I was hit from below and I heard her scream as we plummeted towards the ground. When we hit the ground I was knocked out. I came to a few hours or days later I was never sure but when I came to Tali wasn’t there her necklace was,” he holds up the necklace he gave her for her birthday “I knew she wouldn’t leave this behind so I though maybe she lost it and headed towards the village, but when I got there it was horrible our parents had been slain. I saw Rygoul begging for mercy from a large knight in black armor with a great sword much like Cloud’s and mine. Rygoul was spared at a price, he joined the knight’s side and now he is trying to kill the resistance.”
“And that’s us,” Roxas pipes in suddenly. “So now you’re fighting against him?” Sen asks Roxas. “Yes we are and it’s been hard he’s cut off our food and water supplies and he destroyed all our hiding places so now we’re stuck in a cave to the south.” Roxas replies. ”It’s open to you if you need a place to stay for the time being or you can stay out here and have the chance of dieing at Rygoul’s hand,” Ryon says as he stands and starts off towards the cave. “Hey Ryon!” a tall man with brown hair suddenly leaps in their path and draws his gunblade. ”Squall Leonheart!” Cloud yells as he rushes forward and draws his blade. “Cloud Strife?” Squall fires his gunblade at Cloud. Cloud deflects the bullet and swings at Squall narrowly missing his head as the blade sinks into the ground.
“Stop it! Now!” Ryon yells as he lifts Squall and Cloud off the ground by their necks. “But” Squall manages to get out before Ryon tightens his grip. “I don’t care Squall! We’re fighting for the same cause so deal with what ever happened later!” Ryon growls out through his bared fangs. “Yes…sir” Cloud gasps out as Ryon lowers them to the ground. “I am Squall LeonHeart of Oanke to the north of here,” Squall said catching his breath. “I am Tey this is Sen and this is Deam,” Tey says pointing each of them out in turn. “Pleasure to meet you all,” Squall says as he stands to his feet and sheaths his sword “I am sorry about that little incident a moment ago old grudges die hard.” “Now that everything is back to normal let’s get to the cave before nightfall,” Ryon says starting down the road again.
When they reach the cave Ryon stops them “Wait something’s wrong,” He says while he sniffs the air. “What is that smell?” Tey asks when he picks up the sent. “What does it smell like?” Ryon ask drawing his sword. “Like rotten bodies, old, and decaying its awful,” was Tey’s reply. “Roxas get ready, I hear them, we’ll attack on my signal,” Ryon says to Roxas as he creeps forward careful not to make much noise. “What are those things?” Sen asks when they near the front of the cave. Standing there like sentinels of death three creatures rode upon demons. The creatures were at least seven foot tall and had swords at least eight their eyes shown a brazen crimson they had tails with barbed ends and horns sticking out of their heads. The demons they rode on looked no nicer they stood ten feet on all fours and twice that on their hind legs their fangs dripped fleshly shed blood and each of their tails had a massive metal spike on the end. “Rygoul must be scared of us,” Ryon chuckled to himself as he neared the first beast ”he sent the Natuilt and the Samntau to get us.” Roxas drew his swords and stood next to Ryon as he faced the first beast. “Halt Ryon Talimarie and Roxas we are here to take you to Rygoul,” the creature rasped in a hellish scream. “Ryon?” Roxas asks nervously twirling his swords. “Yeah Roxas?” Ryon said as he advanced unfazed by the creature’s words. “Now?” Roxas said as he prepared to rush the middle creature. “Now!” Ryon yelled as he Roxas and Squall all attacked striking the creatures off the demons and onto the ground. “Now you shall die!” The largest creature rushed towards Ryon, sword drawn. Ryon easily dodged the creature’s sword and tore him in half with his bare hands as if he was butter. The other creatures stood bewildered and Squall saw an opening. “Now Roxas!” Squall said as he ran the creature nearest him through and Roxas did the same. “Stupid Samntaus” Ryon said as the demons the creatures were riding attacked. He threw two effortlessly behind him and into the trees. “Before you ask the Samntaus are the things I just threw and the Natuilts are the things on the ground,” he said, as Sen was about to ask. Squall ran the last Samntau through with his gunblade killing it instantly. “Ryon where are we to go now its apparent that Rygoul has found our hiding place,” Roxas asks Ryon as he stabs the Natuilts making sure they stay dead. “Roxas why are you stabbing them? They’re dead aren’t they?” Sen asks. “They seem to have a tendency of not staying so dead Sen” Ryon answers for Roxas “and I’m not sure if they come back to life or what so we’re making sure they can’t.” Ryon walks towards the cave and then stops short when he sees the blood on the wall. “Dear dear old man I knew you little,” Ryon bows his head and says a prayer when he notices the man’s body torn in half. “Who was he Ryon?” Tey asks once he sees the body. “We never found out Tey, me and Roxas found him and we took him here, he was sick and we tried to nurse him to health,” Ryon said as he grabs food and bags preparing to leave this place behind him as he had done so many other times. “So do we have to leave again?” Roxas asks packing up his bag and slinging it on his shoulder.
