Only You (in dedication to my best friend)
Only you can make me laugh,
release the worries of the world.
Only you can make me feel
as though I am alive
and worthy to be so.
Only you make me feel
warm, safe, and welcome.
You took the time to know me
and for that I am grateful.
Only you have shown me
someone truly appreciates who I am.
Thank you.
Because I used to be
alone.
Nobody accepted me,
nobody cared who I was.
But now, I feel like
it’s worth it to be alive
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel,
and it’s you.
Only you.
Never before,
have I felt so understood.
You understand me
and you wanted to know me.
I was pushed away by others,
left to fear that never would I ‘fit in’.
Yet you,
you welcomed me.
Now I believe
there’s a star in the sky
that can finally, tentatively,
begin to glow.
