Once, the father wolf had reunited all the wolves of the land. He separated them by group, and each would decide the leader. Leaders of the pack would lead their clan to survival, and only the dominating clan could be honored the Children of the Wolf Father, and their leader would have the mark of the sacred paw. He spoke, and his voice echoed throughout the sacred forest, "Brethren of the same kin, children of mana, hear my words, tonight will be the last you dream as mere cubs, tomorrow you will ech awaken in a different part of this very same forest along with your clan partners. You must fight, kill, and defend each other to survive, and your very lived rest within your leaders. Should the leader be worthy, he will lead you to victory; should they not, you will perish. So make worthy decisions, and you will make it back safe and sound." With this said, the wind took with it the symphony of past Fathers of the Sacred Cubs and the melody was but a sweet lullaby to the non-cubs. They dreamed of the decisions and new life they would take, and as they woke up, they found themselves in a completely different place.
One clan, composed of 3 males and only one female, woke up in one of the most dangerous parts of the forest. They listened hard for any other clan, a sound, a sign... nothing. Muboyoji(reckless child), the rebel of the group, puffed his chest with pride, and said, "I'm probably the strongest here, so I will be clan leader." The other two males, being twins, did not argue, for they didn't care, but the female wolf, Kigastuyoi(strong of heart), replied "Physical strengh alone will not help us survive, we need cunning, bravery...."
"I'm cunnng and brave!" Muboyoji interrupted her with his pride. She remained silent and did not argue. First they needed to hunt, so they searched for food. "Toshiuetsuin (older twin), ototosantsuin (Twin's younger brother), go opposite directions and look for something to eat." Muboyoji ordered them. They nodded and did as told. "Kigastuyoi... you look around too."
"Aren't you going to hunt with us?" She asked him.
"I will wait for one of you to lead the prey here. I rest my energy and wil bring it down with ease." He replied carelessly.
Kigastuyoi didn't agree with his decision, but she obeyed. After long hours of stalking, she found herself with the wolf brothers. "Find anything? " She asked. "We havent picked up scent nor found fur." The eldest replied. "Though there might be a river nearby. "The youngest replied.
They found a herd of deer, and, as Muboyoji had ordered, they led the prey to his position, but he wasn't there. Kigastuyoi continued the chase, and managed to corner a deer and capture it. The twins managed to help her slow it down, until Mugoyoji appeared out of nowhere to attack it's throat, draining its last bit of energy. "I told you it would work!" He exclimed, taking a large chunk of the carcass and feeding. The twins did the same, and as Kigastuyoi caught her breath, they ate.Muboyoji ordered them to move, right when she started to feed.. Once she caught up with them, they were planning an ambush on forest creatures that would be obstacles to them. "At the first sign of danger, ATTACK!" He told them in foolish confidence. "Shouldnt we plan a strategy and study their weaknesses?" Kigastuyoi asked.
"Not a bad idea, but it will slow us down. It will be easy!" he said. At the first sight of danger, they pounced at a bear blocking their way. They fought recklessly and landed the first hits without thinking. They were badly hurt, but the bear finally gave in. Angered, Kigastuyoi confronted Muboyoji, "You almost got us killed! Can't you be more careful?!"
"If you havent noticed, I'm leader here! I'm the strongest and most cunning, you are the one slowing me down!" Kigastuyoi felt taken back by his words, and he continued "Without me, none of you will survive! You will get killed, eaten, starved, you are nothing!!"
Kigastuyoi held her ground and yelled back, "This isn't about you! It's about working in a team! Its about surviving! Not about showing strength! Being the strongest doesnt make you a leader! You are reckless, and its your recklessness that will lead us to our downfall!" Muboyoji growled and snarled, but Kigastuyoi didnt step back nor showed fear; she growled stronger than he did, and the brothers shwoed their approval by stepping behind her. Muboyoji, more angry still, let out a snort, and said "You want to die? Then i will live alone! I will be Father's sacred son without your help. I am the strongest of all clans!!" He ran off, abandoning his clan.
Feeling hurt, Kiagastuyoi told the others to rest in that same spot, while thinking what to do. They were hurt, starved, lost, just like Muboyoji had left them. But Kigastuyoi got up, and turned towards the brothers, "We will not let this loss get to us, you will arise to be the strongest and most cunning clan Father will ever see. We are weak and hungry, so we must use careful planning to obtain nourishment. " The brothers agreed and followed her to the river, where they rested and drank to their heart's content. A plump, sickly doe appeared before them, and Kigastuyoi stopped them from chasing it. "No, remember we are still hurt, so we need to confuse our prey. Toshiuetsuin, you are a good swimmer, wait on the border of the river by the lotus undetected, Ototosantsuin, you are the most quiet, lead it towards the river; I will be in the tree and pounce one our prey is confused."
They worked as she had commanded them; Ototosantsuin led the weak doe run for cover in the water, Toshinuetsuin stopped it in its tracks before it reached the other side, and Kigastuyoi waited for the perfect timing, pounced from the trees and caught the doe by its neck, drowning and bringing it down. The three celebrated their victory, losing the least energy possible, and feeling content. After they were well fed, watered and rested, they left. Kigastuyoi remembered that the water to the sacred meadow was always the cleanest, and it flowed downstream. So the higher into the river they followed, the closer. They were prepared for any attack, by other clans or by bears, and wasted the least energy possible to bring down their prey, so they were always well fed and watered, and needed least rest. One day as they woke up one cloudy morning, theyr former leader, Muboyoji appeared in their way. He had scars all over, looked frail and thin, yet of aggresive nature. The clan under Kigastuyoi's order were healthy, robust, unscarred, and energetic. "i've come to take the clan back." Muboyoji growled at Kigastuyoi, seeing she was being followed. Befoe she could answer, the twins answered "We have been well fed and rested, ate to our hearts content and wasted the least energy. No enemy nor prey has seen our mercy, for we brought tthem all to theor feet with Kigastuyoi's command. She is the leader of the pack. "
Muboyoji wasnt pleased, and growled at Kigastuyoi. "You are no match for the obstacles ahead. You will all die!"
"Not until i take my companions to the sacred meadow, so step away. "Kigastuyoi growled back, not afraid of him.
Muboyoji barked loudly and ran towards Kigastuyoi. A fight to regain or remain with the position of clan leader. Kigastuyoi waited, and moved to the side. There was a yelp, and when she turned around, he had gotten impaled by a broken branch. The old leader was down and out, death by his own recklessness, and the twin brothers sat side to side of kiagastuyoi. She stepped her front paw on Muboyoji's cold dead body, and spoke to the brothers, "He almost got our clan into perdition and starvation. We were in the brink of death and despair. He gave up on us and created his own destruction. Take this as an important lesson, and never forget; physical strength does not determine true strength, neither does your words. Always remember that."
With those last words, they continued their journey, following her orders and working as a team. Together, they were first to reach the meadows, and together, were rewarded as the Children of the Wolf Father, and Kigastuyoi was recognized with the Mark of the Sacred Paw. Her clan, SankamiSemmin (three chosen wolves)was the most recognized and respected of all clans, and soon aftewards, they became the next Wolf fathers and the first wolf mother for the next generation of wolves.
