Why did I come back to Gaia? Prices have skyrocketed to the point I'll never catch up and I'm not about to put another penny into virtual items I have no need for. Most of my friends have moved on. The new ones that add me through Jigsaw are pleasant, yet most of the time we talk about "the good ol' days" when ink cost 50-100 gold a bottle and Tektek. ZOMG is shut down indefinetely so I'll never defeat the final boss, even if my party never made it further than the Grunny subs. (So close!)
There's nothing left on this site to call home any more, so why do I pop in every few months? Is it addiction? The cute avatar and remaining items I have to play dress up with? It feels more like... I'm checking in on a friend, with terminal cancer. How long will Gaia last? The site I spent so much time and money on has evolved into something I barely recognize anymore and it saddens me. There are 5-6 announcements A DAY and they're ALL about sales and premium items. Even the items themselves are just blatant ripoffs of whatever is currently popular. (Not to say Gaia hasn't always done this, but they used to be subtler and the items didn't come out a week after the original source material)
With how often users are hacked on this site, I can understand why the Admins have never installed a Deactivate Account feature, but good lord, I wish they would. To shut everything down so I wouldn't be tempted to return. Donate every single thing I own to new users or Pete's dumpster dive.
I just wish the new owners of Gaia understood that this site wasn't created to print money at the rate they're pushing it to. I really miss those "good ol days."
