The sky, the clouds, and the rumbling of the ocean as the waves shifted and shook, rolling out and coming in. This was the world Jane awoke in. At first, she was unaware of her surroundings, but as she leaned back down on the leather seats, she knew she was on a plane (and a rather comfortable one at that). She could figure out she was on a plane in a heartbeat but it took her a while to realize that not only her surroundings had changed, but her, herself, as well.
In a small mirror on the back of a seat in front of her, she viewed bright blond hair. So bright, that it almost seemed yellow. She also saw dark red, vividly outlined eyes. As fearful as that sounds, they were curved in such a way that they almost made her look 'cute'. But if this wasn’t enough to freak Jane out, it had actually seemed as if Jane had gotten shorter! “Oh, great,” Jane started, “Not only have I stopped growing, but I’ve actually shrunken! I’d say I’ve come down to at least 3 feet by now! And how long will it be before I've shrunken away to nothing at all!” In rage, she slammed her foot against the carpeted floor, and a girl filled with sorrow stared out of the window at the horizon, trying to figure out how far away from home she was. But there was only the deep, dark ocean to stare at and it was haunting. VERY haunting. Then, suddenly, the color of the sea began changing. It melted from dark to light as if a giant had accidentally dropped a spoonful of dye into the water. Jane leaned forward in her seat, marveling at the sight. A string of thin rainbows laying on the water’s surface followed up the performance, each ringing the sound of a xylophone as the plane passed over the area. Jane looked back to find out just what had become of them, but they had only appeared during the plane’s passing. The water was now fully colored in: glowing a bright blue. Almost like the ticket she had received.
'Attention passengers: We are now flying in Gaia territory. Please be patient. A flight attendant will be with you shortly.'
Jane was overcome with shock. Something actually happened! She couldn’t believe it! There was no way something could have! And besides, even if something did, what 'had' happened exactly? As a dumbstruck Jane looked in the mirror in front of her, staring at a person who did not seem to be her, the curtain that was to her left that was blocking the view of the rest of the plane was pulled back to show a smiling young lady, the same size as the newly redesigned Jane, wearing an old fashioned flight attendant suit.
