I should have worn those socks.... |

Who knew? I certainly didn't. All I could think about were those physics equations. And so when it came time to leave, I was still absent mindedly brushing my hair in the bathroom. I rushed. But what was the difference? I rushed like this every morning. Grabbed my stack of books, my ripped up purple Powerpuff Girl back pack, and my heavy purple binder. My comfort item, I rarely go without it.
Rushed down the stairs.
And on the third step down, I lost my groove.
Well, basically, my foot overstepped a bit, and my equations flashed before my eyes. It was then that I remembered that in my rush to get where I was going, I had forgotten to wear socks. My feet slipped off the edge of the step because of that.
My books went sprawling, and I found myself sitting all of a sudden. What happened? I'm not too sure, but my foot hurt like crazy. I had to get my carpool to go on without me, since my leg just wouldn't bear weight.
Not wanting to miss the first day of finals, I had my dad rub some strange Chinese oil on it, and bind it tightly with leftover Chirstmas ribbon. Needless to say, it didn't work. So we dug out my cousin's pair of crutches that we used to play pretend with, and headed off to the hospital.
The verdict: it's broken.
And all that time, I had my review sheet out, prepared to return to school ASAP. It wasn't going to happen. The X-ray showed my calf, with its two bones, the thinner one separated into two parts by a large gap roughly one inch from the ankle. She told me it was quite a large fracture, and scheduled an appointment with the cast person.
Went back home to eat lunch. Called some friends to scope out the tests. Can't believe that they laughed at my plight. Is me being in a cast really that funny? I mean, sure, it was three steps, but I guess the angle was just right, or my bones were weak just there. Whatever.
Light blue cast with shiney sparkles. Not too shabby. Quite comfy too. The lady just had me keep my foot in a 90 degree angle (painful), and wrapped a bunch of cotten around it, with strips of 'fiberglass'. Looked like cloth that hardened after touching water.
Three weeks after that, went back to have it removed and checked on. The blade that slices through casts can't hurt skin, so there was barely a tickle. Took X-rays, and tried to put some weight on my foot.
Kinda weird, seeing my foot cast-less, it looked to small, and bruised. It was mostly purple on the heel and sides. A bit of swelling, great amounts of dead and flaking skin, and no muscles. I've always wanted to be thin, but not in that way. It's rather scary to try to tense your leg muscles and find that there aren't any to work with. Doctor said that three weeks was for hairline fractures. Fractures like mine would take longer. So to my great disapointment, I was put on another cast. My mom threw away my cute half sock too.
I've been given this weird velcro shoe, so I can walk a bit, but even though I told the lady that it didn't hurt when she squeezed and poked at the break area, reality was that the opposite was true. I feel foolish for hiding my emotions at that time and trying to look fine.
Crutches are a pain to me, entertainment for the others, and it's rather embarassing to have people do things for me, but hopefully things'll be better next week when I go to the doctors again.
Hopefully I can find someone to scan my X-ray, I want to show it to nii-chan and my other online friends.
