It was early in the morning. The cold, frigid air was strong enough to freeze a person in their tracks. Only one solitary soul was walking down the street in this cold, wintry morning. A young girl about the age of 15 with black silky hair that looked like the fur of a black widow with piercing green eyes. With only her midnight black corset, a dark skirt with laced edging, a long black cloak that gave off a mysterious feeling to anyone that looks at it, laced up leggings, and midnight black heels. As the frostiness of the air was turning into a warm, beautiful day, more people revealed themselves out of their homes. She received threatening looks from the parents. “ Humans, always the judgmental type.” Haya thought.
Although on the outside it seemed as though she didn’t care, on the inside she did. She had moved to this town, hoping to start anew, and begin a new life away from the hassles of being a vampire. Even thought she is a vampire, she is unaffected by crucifixes, sunlight, and holy water, but she must still drink blood. She is this way because she is the heir of the Royal Vampire Clan.
The vampires in the Royal Vampire Clan are no normal vampires. Descendents of the Great Vampire King Vikramāditya, they gain all the attributes of him. However during the great multi-species war between the vampires and the lycans or werewolves, many of the descendents of were killed. Her family believed that Haya was searching for long lost descendants. However, she was not. She had grown tired of the constant rules and regulations of the clan. She told her family that she would look for remaining descendants lost in the world while fleeing the war zone. As vampires usually wear dark and depressing clothing, Haya did not enjoy wearing the bleak clothing. She preferred bright, warm colors. For a vampire, she had a bright, warm personality. Her parents made her wear this type of clothing, so that she would be recognized as a vampire when confronted to another vampire. However to humans, she was recognized as a Goth.
Finally, Haya reached the apartment building. Exhausted, Haya dropped her suitcase on the bed. “How can I expect to live here? It looks like a commoner’s house!” Haya thought. “I should at least get some new clothes” Haya took out the money her parents gave to her before she left home. Then she changed into an auroral blue sundress with ribbons flowing on the back. She then did her hair into a Lolita. As she opened the door, Haya felt something soft pawing her. She looked down to see a matted brown cat. Just by glancing at it you could tell it was a stray that had a lot of hardships. Haya gently picked up the kitten, making sure she was not hurting it. It was as light as a feather. If left out any longer it would surely die. Haya unlocked her apartment, setting the kitten on her bed. She wrapped blankets around the kitten and lifted its head and gently put a pillow for it to rest its head on. The fatigued kitten immediately curled up into a ball and fell asleep. “Aww, how cute!” Squealed Haya. Haya walked out the door while locking it. As she began walking down the street, Haya received more stares. Not bitter stares. More like astonished stares. As she walked farther down the street, Haya saw a group of teenage boys look at her softy. They began leaning against the wall or fixing their hair.
Haya didn’t really take the time to look at her appearance so she didn’t know that to humans, even though she is a vampire, she was gorgeous. “Hmm…if I am going to keep that cat, I will have to buy it food.” Haya thought. Haya searched for a shop to get some cat food.
Finally, Haya reached the end of the street, where a meager pet shop sat on the very last block at the end of the street. As she entered the store, Haya was startled of how massive the store was on the inside, while from the outside it seemed so minuscule. Haya marveled at the neatly stacked merchandise on the shelves. She saw many animals that she didn’t even know existed. Cautiously, Haya walked sluggishly towards the counter. At the counter sat a boy who had hair as brown as mud. He looked extremely arid, sitting at the counter staring at a magizine.
“Excuse me, but could you please tell me where I would find some cat food?’ asked Haya.
“Yeah. Go look in aisle five,” Said the boy. He scarcely looked up at Haya, pretending to be preoccupied with his magazine.
“Thank you! By the way, I didn’t happen to catch your name. What is it?” Haya asked
The boy hesitated, wondering if he should give out his name. “Its uh where did she go?” the boy wondered. He then returned to his magazine. A minute later, Haya returned with two medium sized bags of cat food. “Sorry I left before you answered. I have quite a lot of things to do.”
“Its okay. My name is Yoshi.” He said glancing up. “Woah! This girl is cute! I wonder what her name is?” thought Yoshi. “What is your name?” Yoshi said ringing up the items.
“My name is Haya.” Haya replied. She grabbed the purchased items and said “Goodbye. Perhaps we will see each other again.”
“Yeah. See ya.” Yoshi said. As soon as Haya left the shop, Yoshi was astonished. “Wow. We usually don’t see girls like that around here. I wonder where she came from. It’s going to be hard for me to ask her out. The guys here won’t just give a girl like that without a fight. Maybe I should follow her; just to make sure she isn’t hurt by any of the guys here. Knowing them, if she refuses to go out with them, they will make her by force.” Yoshi thought as he ran out the door.
As Haya wandered down the street, more boys began staring at her. “I wonder why they are staring at me like that?” Haya thought. “Before I changed, I received hostile looks, but now I’m receiving affectionate looks.” Finally, after Haya walked about five blocks, a boy with hair as dark as the midnight sky and eyes as bright as the dawning sun, began walking towards her.
“Hey, what’s your name?” The boy asked while walking towards her, to get her into the alleyway.
”My name is Haya. Who are you and what do you want?” Haya replied.
“My name is Hiroshi. Although my name means “Generous” my personality doesn’t match it at all. The only person I’m generous towards to is my girl. Also what I want is a pretty looking girl like you to be mine.” Hiroshi said.
“What do you mean by that?” Haya asked advancing away from him.
“Don’t you get it?” the boy said, putting his hand on her face so they were eye to eye. “I want you to be mine” Hiroshi said.
Haya pulled her face away from his strong grip. “Leave me alone. I have no interest in you.” Haya said.
“Come on. Don’t be like that.” Said Hiroshi while holding Haya closer towards him.
“ I said leave me alone!” Haya screamed. Out of nowhere, a dark figure appeared at the end of the street. As it came closer, Haya realized it was Yoshi. “Yoshi! Help!” Haya screamed. Yoshi ran towards Hiroshi and Haya.
“She said to leave her alone.” Yoshi said while freeing Haya from Hiroshi’s strong grip. Hiroshi was amazed. No one ever dared touching him. Most people recoiled or fled in fear. Yoshi grabed his other arm and then threw him into a nearby wall. “Come on. Lets get out of her.” Yoshi said while grabbing her arm. Yoshi then began running away from the alleyway with Haya. When he was sure that they were a good distance from the alleyway, he stopped.
“Yoshi! Thank you so much” said Haya while hugging him strongly.
”It was nothing…” Yoshi said. He felt himself growing hot at the face.
”Yoshi, what is wrong? Why is your face red?” Haya asked.
“Its nothing” Yoshi mumbled. “Where do you live? I’ll walk you home so you don’t get attacked by any of the other guys here.
”Okay, then. I live about five blocks from here.” Haya replied
After about ten minutes Haya and Yoshi arrived at Haya’s apartment. “Well this is it.” Haya said.
“You live here? Where are your parents?” Yoshi asked.
“Well, I moved away from them.” Haya replied.
“At your age! But you’re so young!” Yoshi exclaimed.
“I may be young, but I can handle living on my own!” Haya said.
“Well, if your going to live on your own, then you should at least get a job” Yoshi said.
“Fine. I’ll work at the pet shop.” Haya said.
“Great! I’ll finally get some help around the shop. And who knows, maybe with you working there we will get more customers!” Yoshi exclaimed.
So, Haya began her new life in Osaka. She worked determinedly at the pet shop. She finally saved up enough money to buy a somewhat petite house. Although she did feel a little bit guilty about lying to her parents, she never did return. She began school and made a lot of friends. She was a grade A student who was liked by all her classmates. A year later, Haya began going out with Yoshi. They grew affectionate towards each other. After two years of dating, Yoshi proposed to Haya. Without hesitation, Haya immediately said yes. After a month of preparing for the wedding, Haya and Yoshi finally got married. Haya still attended school while working part time at the pet store. Yoshi agreed to finish college, while Haya attended school. After racking her brain for weeks, wondering if she should tell Yoshi about what she was. Haya confronted Yoshi and told her what she was. Even though she was a vampire, Yoshi still loved her.
