"Welcome home dear. How was your day?" Racheal's father, the nor retired Brigidier General Lao, was a tall and powerfully built man. In pictures from his so called glory days, Racheal could see why he had been called a flirt. He had the looks and at times still tried to use them. Racheal had to agree. He was handsome.
"My day went well father. I am sorry I wasn't home earlier, Caroline wanted to talk with me and wouldn't let me go home till the sun began to set. I do not feel well. I will be in my room till supper, father." She nodded to the man and slipped inside the mansion.
The man breathed a sigh of relief and said his goodbyes to General Lao. The general went up to Racheal's room and knocked lightly on the door.
"Racheal? May I come in?"
"Yes father.. come in."
"Racheal dear, did that man do anything to offend you?" Her father sat beside her on her window seat.
"Papa? Is it rigth to hate someone just because of their background or they look different? Is it wrong to yell at them?" Racheal's eyes welled with tears once more. Her fathe took her into his arms and rocked her gently. She sobbed and hiccuped, holding on to him like a life line.
"Dear one, people like that, people like hom, have alot of hatered for anyone who isn't themselfs. Not just those with tan skin and red eyes." Racheal shifted in his arms.
