“Sora!” Maxx turned around and yelled my name. Lee Ann was still attached to his arm like a fish to a starving bear. I brushed away that lonely tear and walked forward, head high and a fake smile on my face. They were about 15 or so yards ahead of me.
“I’m fine! I just hurt my foot. I’ll be okay.” I lied. Maxx nodded and they started off again.
She stole him from you. That voice said in my head. What are you talking about? I thought, answering the mysterious voice. Lee Ann. She stole Maxx from her. Don’t you want to kill her? The voice echoed in my head. No, that would be horrible. I would never do that. I thought. There’s someone in the trees. The voice stated. I turned my head, and I noticed a shadowlike figure on the ground, a shadow from someone, no doubt, in the trees.
Whoever it was, the person must have felt me staring because the person started to talk. “You’re really pretty. Want to give me your phone number?” The voice said. It was a boy’s. The figure jumped out of the trees and slammed me against the brick wall. His hand was clasped around my neck, so strong it held me there. I finally got a glimpse of the boy. He was about my age; he looked about 15, a year older than me. He had long red hair with his bangs to eyelevel. He was tall, taller than me anyways. He had a tight, dark orange short sleeve shirt on companied by light brown baggy pants the sagged a little. He eyes weren’t mean, but playful. He moved his head closer to mine. He was about it kiss me when I heard a shout.
“Jason, you idiot!” I heard Lee Ann shriek. This Jason guy let go of my throat, and I sank to the ground. Lee Ann was running toward Jason. She grabbed him by the collar, and started to yell at him. “What were you thinking? Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!” Maxx came running, too.
“I thought I could help this pretty, young lady.” He said thoughtfully. Then his eyes turned mean, and he threw Lee Ann down to the ground. Then he darted toward the lake and out of sight.
“After him!” Lee Ann yelled and started to sprint after Jason. Maxx and I followed. When we arrived at the lake, we saw Jason dive into the water, head first. Without thinking twice, I ran to the lake, and also dived in, thinking of nothing but the crystal Maxx needed. I saw a dark monstrous figure below. I was running out of air, so I had to get to the surface. As I raced up, something grabbed my foot and pulled me back down. I couldn’t escape, and even worse, I felt the last of my breath slip away.
