Beware of the fangirl...The diary of a Gaian.
This is the diary of Dawna Celeste, just another ordinary Gaian...or is she?
Escape from the party, but to where?
There was nothing we could do, we had already been spotted, and people were starting to laugh. Cindy was the first to see what we must have looked like to everyone else. Leaning close as if she was going to kiss me, she wispered in my ear "You go the other way, we'll meet later." With that, she...well, I can't quite say ran, but she moved very quickly towards the dancefloor. I turned away and headed toward the bar. I didn't want a drink, and certainly not that awful punch, but I could see her reasoning. If we had stayed together we would have been followed, but as it was, we were pretty much safe from being hasseled...at least for the moment. She dosn't have to worry, I thought in annoyance, she's in disguise. I was a different matter. I knew how fast gossip spread on the Isle... And the funny thing, I thought as I helped myself to another glass of punch, is that not a soul would have thought it fodder for gossip if I'd come out of the tent with a boy! And everyone called this the age of tolerence...
I headed for the water's edge, and somehow managed to get away from the people. As I sat sulkily by the water, I thought of the sea-people and how I had broken my promise to their king. But Cindy's family, she wouldn't tell, I thought to myself. The next thought was more unwelcome: She's a journalist, and it would make a great scoop! Just as I was about to get in a fullscale argument with myself, Yama steped from the shadows, as if to increase my guilt.
What happened next made me feel a bit better about myself, but I still don't know if it will help...I hope so.
The main thing is that his alchemist friend thought that my genes might hold the key to a vacine to the jellyfish vemon to the sea-people. It makes sense, since the only mark I have of my encounter with the nasty thing is a small white scar on my right thumb. To test her theorys, she needed a sample of my blood. Would I give it?
The only answer I could give was yes, of course. So Yama led me away from the beach, down a alley (why does he always take me the long way around?) and up to a large wooden door. He knocked three times, and after a quick exchange with the doorkeeper, we entered, into a huge, dark, entry hall...
