The fancy hotel in DMC 5 has flatscreen tvs, but also I bet the whole thing with occasional doomsday scenarious with giant pillars and trees and demons might disrupt a cell signal

Oh, I remember now! Thanks for pointing that out. So in Devil May Cry 5 universe, it is advance enough to have flat screen televisions, but not cellphones? According to Hideaki Itsuno (director of DMC5) it’s not as cool for someone to take out a cell phone and say ‘Devil May Cry’. I get it, it’s a stylistic choice that works to make DMC look cooler, be more fun and challenging too.
Otherwise, the game would’ve ended quicker if they could’ve reached Dante sooner. As he wouldn’t be able to continued his month long nap if he had a cellphone constantly ringing in his ear. It would’ve also attracted demons even with the Devil Sword Sparda shielding his presence from them and Urizen. Hmm, if that was the case they could’ve easily made the excuse of him being too broke for it (which could’ve also applied for the others too). Instead, they make it as though the DMC universe (at least in this particular game until the next one) wasn’t quite there yet with cell phones. Which is weird if they have flat screen tvs…unless only the rich or fancy places like hotels have access to newer model of tvs. I don’t know…
But waiiit, now that you mention it. If we’re going with that logic, wouldn’t the landlines also get disrupted? Qliphoth, the demon tree’s roots was wrecking everything – buildings, streets and even the sewers. How are they even able to make those payphone calls in the first place? Those roots should’ve wrecked the power lines for electricity too, which is needed for those phones to operate. Though, Nero did seem surprise to find the first payphone he came across to still be working. When I saw that I expected it to be a one time thing, but it kept happening each time…XD Goodness.
I guess with the power of almighty video game lords it was meant to be. Or they were just incredibly lucky to stumble upon the phone landlines that were still intact and with working electricity.
