Everyone is familiar with those anti-theft tags that are sometimes placed on clothing to prevent shoplifting, right? The one that sets off the alarm when a thief tries to walk out the door with it and/or the garment gets ruin by the tag spilling ink onto it.
I get the point of it, but it’s hella annoying that it leaves a freaking hole on the collar part of the clothing itself. I just bought a cute, stylish tank top the other day and it has a hole in it now. It doesn’t help that nowadays clothing seem to be thinner so of course it won’t last that long either. That little hole will eventually grow bigger with each wear and wash.
One time the back of my tank top got snagged on something and I thought it would be okay since the hole was so small. It just got worst over time. I did tried to save it by sewing up the hole, but there was only so much a person could do when it kept getting broken or ripped up in the same spot.
This is worst when it happens to an expensive piece of clothing. Sure, a person could go back to the store and return it or maybe ask for one that doesn’t have the security tag on it yet. But that option isn’t always available or possible. Sometimes the clothing is shipped to the store already tagged, other times it’s out of stock (especially in that particular size).
It would be nice if they placed the security tags somewhere else on the clothing that won’t cause any damage to it. I’ve heard that they’ve tried using the clothing tag itself, but thieves are able to easily rip it off if it’s placed there. If a tag is also placed in a seam of a shirt close to the hem, a shoplifter might try to cut or tear the tag out which is another reason why they don’t do that either.
Anyway, this is just a little rant about that. I don’t know any other solutions that would fix the hole in my tank top besides sewing. Any suggestions?
