"If you develop feelings for someone and find out they are in a relationship, then have the decency to respect that. Become friends if that is what your heart wants, but don't wedge yourself into their relationship. If it is too painful to be only friends, then let them go, and let them be. It will hurt, and it will take time to heal. That is completely okay. Take as much time as you need.

If you are in a relationship (long distance or not), and crave intimacy, then talk to your partner about it. Communicate with them. Use Skype, phone calls, text messaging, emails, or even snail mail. Plan movies nights or play online games together. Look forward to the days when you will be able to see each other in person, whether that be one week, one month, or a year from now.

If you are in a relationship and unable to stop yourself from going to someone else's arms, then be honest with your partner, and break up. It is not fair to them. They do not deserve that. If they find it in their heart to forgive you, then cherish that forever, as you have broken their trust once and a second time may kill them alive.

They may find it extremely difficult to trust anyone again. They may build walls around themselves and block anyone from getting too close. They may become afraid to love again, no matter how starved for affection they get... because once upon a time in their past, they thought they were lucky enough to love someone that loved them back, only to find out that their love wasn't enough to stop that person from going to someone else."

Some time ago, I came across this text. It really struck me deep and resonated a lot. Being both the instigator and the victim. Okay, maybe not but I've felt the hurt and pain from both. To the ones who I've hurt and the ones that have hurt me, I'm so sorry...that I couldn't be a stronger friend, a better one.
