Got a notice this week that we’ll be having a house inspection after next week’s entry. Those are never fun, but I’m glad we’ve got plenty of time to prepare. The house always gets messy between inspections because myself and my room mate are lazy about cleaning, so there is plenty to do. If we clean something every day, it should be easy to get the house into a better state and ready to be looked at. Next week we will find out if we kept to that or if we failed and had to do everything last minute. Again stare
Other than the inspection, there is little to mention this week as far as my personal life goes. That eyelid lump I mentioned last week hasn’t gone away, and I can’t tell if it got smaller, so that’s got me a little worried. I’ll wait another week and continue with the “put a warm towel on it” thing I found suggested on the internet before I bring up the possibility of seeing a doctor about it. Wouldn’t want to panic when it could end up being something minor. The other thing to mention this week is that I realized the dog is scraping a dent into the floor on purpose. No idea why, or why that specific spot on the floor, but if I’m lucky, I’ll figure out a way to make her stop. I remember once while working on a farm for a short time that horses will chew on wood fences or part of their stables if they get bored, so I think the dog might be bored. I’ll try getting some toys or taking her on more walks to see if that gets her to stop trying to bite a hole in the floor. I’m sure it will also be better for her teeth if she stops.
Lastly, a bit of thoughts on a current event. I rarely do it, and this will be short, but I just wanted to say it, and this is about the only place I voice my thoughts, so... Charlotte, North Carolina has had some rioting recently over a dude who got shot. I’m not sure but it could still be going on at the moment. The dude who was shot was black, he was shot by a cop (who was also black), and it was claimed by family members that he was reading a book when he got shot. I’d prefer not to dive into the details as they haven’t all been layed out and investigated as they should be just yet. I just want to go over two things at the moment. First, a lot of news reports are calling the riots “protests”, which is wrong, I think. From my knowledge, protesting doesn’t include setting places on fire, smashing windows, robbing stores, assaulting people with the “wrong” skin color, assaulting people with the “right” skin color, blocking roads, throwing sh*t at cars, and one video clip I saw looked like people were trying to pick up another person so they could light that person on fire. In contrast, protests against segregation and Jim Crowe laws were generally peaceful on the part of the protesters. The violence in those protests came from the other side, the people who wanted to stay in power and for the protesters to shut the f*ck up and accept how things were. Calling what is going on now protesting is wrong. The people running around smashing things and hurting people all should go to jail. They are endangering people’s lives, if not out right hurting them, and harming the community as a whole. The damage they are doing will do absolutely nothing to fix whatever it is they are pissed about and only helps to color people’s minds in a negative way toward the people who are doing the rioting. I would think this would be something they’d want to avoid, considering stereo types is what the movement involved tends to get pissed at. Now, I have seen some peaceful protesters in videos, which, okay if they want to do that they should be able to since that is their right. However, that is not the majority of what seems to be going on. So, perhaps when covering this event news organizations could call the peaceful people protesters, and the violent people rioters... and then maybe they could report on it honestly.
Still on the topic of the protesting, I am subscribed to one channel on youtube called “The Young Turks” or “TYT” for short. I don’t know why anymore since I rarely watch anything they put out anymore... Anyway, one of the things they keep harping on is “the system”, like it’s some sort of justification for the violence. It isn’t. There was a sh*tty system in place when it came to the Jim Crowe laws, and people protested long and hard in mostly peaceful ways to get them abolished. The system was much more stilted against people without white skin then and still things turned around and became better. This rioting will do nothing but go the opposite way, I think. And why exactly would anyone join the side of or have sympathy for people when they might turn around and hurt people, or burn their home or business down, and/or steal their sh*t? I sure as hell wouldn’t because that would just leave me in a constant state of fear.
Now, if anyone is curious why I didn’t say what exactly the name of the movement is, that’s because I don’t want a search for it to lead here as I’m no expert on the group. And people tend to jump on folks that speak against that group, which I’m trying to somewhat avoid.
Gotta post this quick. Very close to Gaia’s midnight.
