Many people haven't heard the story of Cain and Abel. They are brothers and they have to give offerings to God. God accepts Abel's offerings but not Cain's. In envy of Abel's good fortune Cain kills him so the Lord has to praise him. This upsets God.
Humans are evnious of others because it's our nature. The bible says God doesn't want us to do it and it's hard not to but not impossible. People who submit to the power of envy steal things or murder to make things better for themselves. Sad but true.
A way we can avoid envy is by realizing what we already have. Say you like someone's house better than your own. Keep yourself from being envious by telling yourself how good your own home is and being happy you have a home.
We should be gratefull for what we have instead of envious of what others have. If you ever feel envy for something pray to God to remind you of how he's blessed you. mrgreen
