personality [At age 20] Hollis takes much pride in her line of work and treats her job quite seriously--maybe, perhaps, a bit too seriously. Enforcing the law is at her utmost priority and she will go through any measures necessary to ensure that justice is served. When she is approached with a daunting obstacle, she is the type to demonstrate the "work hard or die trying" attitude. She is optimistic and believes that there is always a solution to seemingly impossible problem.
In a more social setting, Hollis is somewhat of a charmer at first impression due to her friendly and bright nature, but when delving into an actual conversation, the "socially awkward" aspect of her is then revealed. Corny jokes and old-school punchlines ensue. Romantically, Hollis is oblivious to pick-up lines and related flirting, though at the same time, no man in the right mind ever made any slight towards her... Until Ginko.
[At age 32] After overcoming a series of traumatic and emotionally devastating events, Hollis matures to be more stoic, but her quirks still manage to show from time to time. She becomes a highly-respected and admired leader.

history Hollis had always been inspired by the crime-fighting heroes she's seen on television, amassing a collection of action figures since she was just in early grade school. Her admiration for them led her to informally, and perhaps illegally, "patrolling" her neighborhood streets for potential crime from junior high to high school. With the sudden murder of her mother in late high school, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement.
And she did.
At age 20, she started her career as official rookie to the force. It was exciting and all-around fulfilling to finally be doing what she loved. She was assigned to the squad led by Roux, who would soon come to be one of the most inspirational figures of her lifetime. Although Roux and Hollis did not work well together initially, with clashing methods to how the job should be done, Roux eventually saw the potential that Hollis had as an officer and made amends to their relationship. From then on, Hollis was taken under the wing of Roux, who served as her mentor, colleague, and unexpectedly, mother figure. Their relationship was still maintained after Roux was promoted to Chief of Police, shortly after.
It was around this time that Hollis met Ginko, a young man whom she assumed was up to no good just from the sight of his crossed arms.
There was little that Hollis knew of the corruption that tainted the entire justice system--and it was this corruption that led to the death of Roux.
