Why do we celebrate this day as if we only demonstrate love once per year? Do our hearts suddenly swell up with bursting paroxysms of bliss that urge us to spend money on pink things? Honestly, nothing more enters my mind at the thought of Valentine's day but, "So what?" and a bunch of other half-conscious opinions on the holiday. So instead, a myth shall ensue, entailing the story of Saint Valentine in a tantalizing willy-wally of a what:
Once upon some time, a saint named Valentine discovered Love. Love was a strange shape, with oddly and ironically resembles a lone pair in chemistry, which Valentine had been studying for the past school year. Romantic Love didn't discriminate against any gender, sexual orientation, or race because it was unconditional. So Valentine preached about Love until finally the people made a day specifically praising Valentine and Love. Through generations, the two have been celebrated until one day Discrimination came in and tried to ruin this gaiety. Discrimination was in a crisscross shape, menacing and notorious for nasty bias that aimed to defile Romantic Love's unconditional and impartial distribution. Valentine decided that one day he would find a way to travel through the realms of Chocolate to earth and defeat the wretched beast Discrimination.
And hopefully, we will romantically love happily ever after-- unconditionally and impartially. And maybe Valentine can throw in some chocolate.
Basically, these personified the discrimination today against sexual orientation, race, and many other factors that obstruct love's boundlessness. Romantic love can be between a male and a male, a male and a female, or a female and a female. It makes no difference in the profoundness of their love. So let's be Valentine's successors and battle Discrimination and stand as loving knights of unconditional Romantic Love.
