Everyone has heard of people from different religions knock on people’s door to educate them. Well, some people are luckily enough to have it happen only once to them or never, but for me they come nearly every weekend — especially in the summer.
It’s incredibly annoying. It’s the same as telemarketers calling your phone trying to sell you things that you aren’t interested in. I’ve already told them that I nor my parents are interested in what they’re about but it’s always different people and different religions. So I don’t think they keep track of who to not bother.
I feel guilty when I ignore them but after a while it gets annoying. After all, people are not obligated to pick up the phone. It’s the same when it comes to the door. You’re not obligated at anytime whatsoever to answer the door to anyone you have not invited over to your house. The doorbell and knocking are not a summons to open the door. So it’s understandable that people will ignore whoever is at the door unless it’s someone they know and have invited over.
Though I don’t understand why they feel the need to ring the doorbell multiply times. The first three times I get it but doing it a couple more times isn’t going change anything.
Plus, it’s safer to not open the door to strangers. There are people out there with bad intentions who use ploys to get people to open their doors and…well it’s not a good thing if they get in. So it’s best to only answer the door for people you are expecting.
