When it comes to games, films, books, TV shows or whatnot that contain females wearing armor I get incredibly annoy when they are unrealistic. If a female character is fighting in a battle, why in the world would she be wearing a chain-mail bikini? She’s a warrior so she should know better. It’s a poor excuse for an armor and it’s going to get her killed. It’s not practical. And using the excuse that it allows for mobility is bullshit, especially when the character is involve with wars.
This gets me more upset when it happens in entertainment that aim to be serious and realistic. It’s unfair that female warriors have impractical armor while males have armor that makes sense. Anyway, it’s also often forgotten that showing more skin isn’t the only way to make someone look good if that’s their whole reason for making female armor sexy. A pretty face can easily be visible in a helmet with the visor up. Some designs of flexible armor could even show off a figure without sacrificing protection by displaying skin (and that doesn’t included breast-bulges on a solid breastplate).
Besides covering up more might make the characters more attractive. It makes it a mystery and can be left to a person’s imagination. It also allows people to focus more on who and what they’re capable of instead of how they look while doing things.
