When it comes to surviving a zombie apocalypse there’s more to it then just having a plan of what to do or having the important survival items on hand and knowing how to use them. You also need skills (and knowledge of it) such as…
1. Lock Picking - You might need to know how to do this in order to get access to buildings (because buildings that are seal off are likely to not have been looted for survival items yet). Or maybe you just need shelter in a building that’s still intact.
2. Need To Be A Driver - There might come a time when you need a vehicle for whatever reason. Keep in mind that you should know how to drive whatever vehicle it is, how to fix and maintain it. Even know how to hotwire one when you don’t have a key for it or how to break into one if you need to. Also don’t forget that you need gas so it’ll be useful to know how to get gas from other vehicles or get gas from the station pumps, especially when there’s no power to pump the gas.
3. First Aid- At some point you will get hurt, hopefully it’s not from a zombie bite or a scratch. It’s important that you know how to treat whatever injury you might get. It’s even better if you know natural remedies to treat injuries as well. For example cayenne pepper can quickly stop large cuts from bleeding, and you can make emergency bandages out of tree fungus.
4. Self Defense - Zombies won’t be your only enemy. There will be some survivors that will be out to get you for whatever reason. It’s important that you learn self defense so what you can better protect yourself against them.
5. Cook - There’s going to be a point where finding food will be scares. So you’ll have to resort to hunting down wild game, fishing and foraging. You’ll need how to skin them, how to not waste any part of it, how to flavor it, and how to tell the edible plants apart from the harmful ones. Basically know how to make food that will not only make your hunger go away, but can give you a balance nutrition.
6. Farming - For long term survival, you’re going to need to learn how to grow your own fruits and vegetables. Without them, people tend to get scurvy.
7. Firearms - Despite what people think it’s not that simple to use a fire arm. It takes a while to get use to the recoil and the loud sound it makes. It takes a lot of practice to hit moving targets and making headshots. You’ll also need to know when the safety is on and off (if the weapon even has a safety mechanism), how to reload and to clean the weapon so that it stays in working condition.
8. Parkour - This is another useful skill to have because it’ll help you get around, especially from zombies.
